So Treliving fires Ward and brings In Sutter because the Flames aren't playing to Trelivings expectations but yet aside from goaltending Treliving did next to nothing to Improve his club In the offseason. Gutsy! Perhaps Treling Is next on the chopping block.

There wasn't much to improve and Andersson/Tanev is an improvement over Brodie/Hamonic. They have all the right pieces. They just need to figure out how to get them to work together.

Sutter will definitely bring good old Canadian Hockey back to Calgary and become a powerful 3rd period force.

Bag skates for everyone!

Sutter will be in against Montreal. Unless he gets a positive test.

Signed a Vezina and added a perennial top 4 defenseman=next to nothing. We should have signed Turris, Koekoek and Kahun.

You heard Warrener on the radio! Lol!
- Chuckywhip

I haven't lived in Calgary since 2007 so I don't get theFan on the radio, sadly. I am by no means taking credit for making an actual prediction because I was being far from serious! Never thought in a million years this would happen

I think the only thing flames missed out on in off season was Tofolli. would have solved some RW problems.

Good point, and now they are searching for one that shoots right. I wonder who they might target?

I think the time to trade bennett to Vanc for Virtanen & a 2nd or 3rd & move on. But some think Sutter will be able to get the best out of Bennett. For those that think Monahan is in trouble Sutter likes Monahan, so who knows. Consider this:

Hartley crabby hard ass coach, we have success.
Gully, Mr Congeniality failure
Peters, hard ass we win division & 2nd overall in NHL
Ward, another Mr Congeniality failure

Seems Sutter will probably get the most out these overpaid athletes. Problem with Sutter, he definitely has a shelf life as a coach.

For the love of all that is pure & right, do nottttttt make him GM. He'll bring back Warrener & Tony Amonte for FFS!!

that wouldn't make much sense. Virt is a lesser (but fatter)Bennett.

All this does is signal a lot of issues in the team chemistry. Everyone knows Sutter may give a temporary boost but he has a short shelf life with players. There will be major player personnel moves coming.

He didn’t really lose the team in LA. He just ran the whole roster into the ground with injuries. Still put up great possession numbers all 6 years and won 2 cups.

I think he eventually lost the roster a bit... they locked him out of the room

But yeah, he's one of those guys that has a short life span generally as a coach, but gets the most out of those rosters.

It will take a month for the Flames’ players to understand what Sutter is saying.

well considering flames/sutter were successful with a team built around Iggy/Kipper

Tchachuk/Markstrom give him the same base. And add in Johnny/Monahan/Lindstrom hes got tools to work with then he did now.

If any of these snowflakes can’t understand Sutter, they’ll get a rude awakening.i like it, this team needs a strong voice in the dressing room.

Interesting commentary from Sutter...

The sting of defeat still smarts for Darryl Sutter.

It’s been nearly 17 years since he guided the Flames to the Stanley Cup final, only to lose to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a gutting seven-game series.

The result continues to guide Sutter as he returns to Calgary for a second stint as the team’s head coach.

He still remembers sitting on the flight home from Florida, thinking about the loss and how it impacted everyone associated with the club, from the players up to the owners.

“For me, it’s unfinished business,” Sutter said Friday.

“It’s like I have a debt to pay to them guys. And we’re going to win a Stanley Cup for them.”

I would be ok with a Stanley Cup

The current team is way better than the '04 team, but you must have not been a fan back then if you think Tkachuk and Markstrom are even close to Iginla and Kiprusoff. Tkachuk is definitely one of the guys with a work ethic problem. Iginla pretty much defined work ethic.

Iggy & Kipper were elite it's just Tkachuk & Markstrom need to hit that elite level, personally I think they can under the right circumstances. This is not a bad move for the Flames. But if they dont smarten up for Sutter, oh boy this off season will be anything but dull.
