The current team is way better than the '04 team, but you must have not been a fan back then if you think Tkachuk and Markstrom are even close to Iginla and Kiprusoff. Tkachuk is definitely one of the guys with a work ethic problem. Iginla pretty much defined work ethic.
- Hunkulese

its a comparison in game style.

still stands.

And you jump in before understanding the point. The point was this team is way better...so easier for Sutter. And ya Iggy set the work ethic standard. But on a team with less support then what I think Tchachuck/Marky have now.

thanks for reaffirming what I said

Mohnny is a sack of crap. Sutter will make this very transparent. Trade Mohnny + to Ottawa for Tkachuk. Bennet I think will thrive under Sutter. This is a good day for the hockey club

He may be successful, but it definitely won't be easier for Sutter. The gap couldn't be larger between the type of roster the Flames have and the type of roster that fits Sutter's coaching style. Sutter likes big bruising north-south hockey players who'll grind out 2-1 wins. The Flames are made up of small, skilled, non-physical players. No amount of yelling is going to fix that.

Sutter was already seen as a dinosaur when he was fired. Playing with cows for four years probably didn't make him more open-minded. If he comes in and tries to get this team to skate through walls for him, it's not going to go well.

He also doesn't have a goalie to ride 70 games a year anymore.

If any of these snowflakes can’t understand Sutter, they’ll get a rude awakening.i like it, this team needs a strong voice in the dressing room.

This is the best coaches hire since the flames fired Daryl sitter

I think the time to trade bennett to Vanc for Virtanen & a 2nd or 3rd & move on. But some think Sutter will be able to get the best out of Bennett. For those that think Monahan is in trouble Sutter likes Monahan, so who knows. Consider this:

Hartley crabby hard ass coach, we have success.
Gully, Mr Congeniality failure
Peters, hard ass we win division & 2nd overall in NHL
Ward, another Mr Congeniality failure

Seems Sutter will probably get the most out these overpaid athletes. Problem with Sutter, he definitely has a shelf life as a coach.

For the love of all that is pure & right, do nottttttt make him GM. He'll bring back Warrener & Tony Amonte for FFS!!

- Kevin R

Sorry man, but Jake is back to being a cornerstone piece after last night. It's gonna cost you more than Bennett now.

Congratulations on your new old coach though.

It's kind of gross how everyone, myself included, has already forgotten about the allegations made against Sutter a couple of years ago. If he was actively coaching when the allegations were made, everyone would still hate him.

Carcillo didn't forget.

Darryl is a bad human being. I believe that from all of my interactions with him and from what I saw him do to teammates. He didn't get rehabilitated. I definitely know that Darryl didn't step away and get rehabilitated in any way, shape or form. And now he's stepping back. And that's ... how hockey culture works. They stand by these guys that they hold in high regard despite their behavior. That's the epitome of the problem.

Was a 62-year-old cattle farmer with abuse allegations really the best option? Especially for a team that forced a coach to resign over abuse allegations just over a year ago.

People have become so soft and sissified. So what if he yells, screams, pushes his players buttons. That's what a coach is supposed to do right? Produce the best results from the group of players he's given. People have gotten so weak over the last couple decades

Imagine a hard-nosed farm-raised ex-nhler rubbing a few people the wrong way...it's not like he stuck his hotdog in a bunch of young defenseless boys, now that's an allegation. Kicking a grown man who could have easily defended himself? I say grow a pair if you don't like it and feed him some knuckle. We are becoming a melted butter society.

Good point. They probably lost a lot of sleep before reluctantly picking Sutter over Cassie Campbell.
On a more positive note, a person who can control a herd of cows probably knows how to control a bunch of overpaid pussies.

You got that right!! On a side note I don't think Hunkulese is even a Flames fan, I wish he would just go the (frank) away.

He is a flames fan. He’s just a moronic flames fan. Flames have quite a few of those!

Yeah no doubt I hope he is able to get everyone playing to the level this team should be playing. I wonder how Benny will respond to Sutter.

Yeah, it is a bad thing. What would you defend your family with if an alien species decided to invade our planet and rape our insides? Throw Chatelaine magazines at them and complain that our feelings are hurt?

Not only that but last time I checked NHL hockey is a testosterone-driven sport. If players would rather play women's hockey I hear they are accepting men in their leagues now.

Best reply ever. 'Bad man' because he was mean to millionaires to get them to earn their paycheck... How soft.

I bet they don't get drunk and stumble over themselves pre game now. And I am now stoked for the season. He will get the weaklings out quick.

Treliving said in his interview that this is not the first time he approached Darryl Sutter. He had approached him before but things didn't align but this time, all things aligned and he is in Calgary. So this means, they prob tried to get him beginning of this season?

I do believe this will in the least get the flames into the playoff picture, after that who knows. Need to remember Billy Peters past got him (he was never actually fired) I am not excusing what was done but just putting that out there.

They do need a tough coach its a proven track record with them, while I believe this is the right move for the squad it will be interesting to see if it actually lasts past the playoffs this season.

I believe the line is hired to be fired. As for Tre? Chances are he wont make it to the draft.
