Disagree there is something to think about; not too much. They are going to lose a solid forward more than likely in the ED. It wont be crippling to the team or organization in any way imo. You lose one of Jake JVR "Patty" Oscar or NAK. Protecting 4 d isn't a big deal to me. I do what I can to try to get Seattle to take Jake.

Acquiring a 2/3rd line forward is easier than a top 4 dman. If they acquire a top 4 guy I hope he has term left and can be part of the solution going forward. If it is a rental then I do not overpay and wait to until the summer.

I rather give Nashville the first. I know everyone has their price, but Myers is an overpay there. Myers is also part of the top 4 plan going forward.

I think you are taking heavy drugs if you consider what you have watched from Myers this year is a top 4 dman. Maybe on the Flyers, but not on other good teams. Ekholm immediately becomes the best Flyers defenseman if he joins the Flyers.

If they start a new rebuild today they can be mediocre again within 5 years!

Yes I agree, the first option was too high of a price. But I do believe the Flyers are going to have to give up something significant to get Ekholm. Right now I am convinced if the Flyers do not make a significant trade, they are missing the playoffs this year.

Why why why?? Ekholm is a really good defenseman no matter how you look at it. Whether you want to face it or not, Ekholm is a top paring defenseman on any team in this league and adding him would be a huge upgrade the Flyers defenseman. He has good size, great mobility, plays with an edge, eats minutes, plays PK and PP, and can generate offense. I mean why are people on this forum so convinced Ekholm is not a significant upgrade. Someone tell me one fact that demonstrates otherwise!

Nashville pairs Roman Josie (LHD) and Ryan Ellis (RHD) as their top pair, and they play roughly 25 minutes a game. Their second pair is Ekholm (LHD) and Dante Fabbro (RHD) and they play about 22 minutes a game. Nashville obviously splits it up this way to get LHD-RHD on each pair, otherwise Ekholm would easily be in the top pair. Ekholm is better than Ryan Ellis and is absolutely a top pairing defenseman! On the Flyers it won't matter which pair is 1 and which pair is 2, because they would play about the same minutes. This would also allow Provorov to play less minutes, which I think is the main reason his game has dropped off this year.

1st pair, 2nd pair... whatever. Who do you want playing against Boston’s big line or OV or Crosby? Right now our answer is Prov and you fill in the blank.. it’s not good enough. Also you kinda have to wonder if what you see is what you get with Sanheim. The Sanheim Myers combo in the bubble playoffs did not really excite me all that much. Then Niskanen plays too many minutes and gets criticized. This team needs mult dmen in their top 4.
