Giroux - no points but 2 shots on goal. Jake - no points but 5 shots on goal. NoPa - no points and 0 shots on goal! His line had 7 shots on goal last night, what exactly was he doing out there?
15th game in a row that NoPa has no points, and this is the 8th game of this point drought where he has failed to register a single shot. And NoPa is on the the 2nd PP unit to boot! Only twice this season has NoPa registered more than 1 shot on goal in a game, both games against Pittsburgh, and the last time NoPa registered a point was Jan 26th against NJ!!
When I suggested he needs to sit I was lambasted on here, but maybe AV should have listened to me. I told you all "he is what he is". |

Still pissed off from watching some of the dumbest hockey this team has ever displayed. Poor puck decisions, trying to be too cute instead of making the simple play. They were playing like they were down by 5 goals instead of one.
Last night IMO was on the coach. Too many stupid ill advised passes instead of getting it deep and getting in on the forecheck. So much so that it had to be a mandate from the bench.

The coach told Hayes to hold on to the puck and piss away a 3 on 1 break in?

It is a combination of Coaching and maybe the team just isn't anything special. Goaltending needs to be much better. Ivan has had a rough year. Myers still is only in his 2nd year. Hagg Gus just need to go.
At this point unless the GM is going to make series of moves to try to make a run I play it out and then go all in come summer time. Maybe missing the playoffs will force changes that they may not want to make. Hopefully that involves Clode and Bobby. Unlikely though. They are good players who need to move on as the pieces don't work. |

Yep, that is the ONLY play I was thinking of as well.

Silver lining: Jake and Ghost both looked awesome last night.
Flyers played well enough to win. Samsonov was just too hard to beat. |

I have no confidence in Therrien as a PP coach. Even if he were replaced the schedule and lack of practice time makes it very difficult to implement a new system. This is a real problem that has persisted since the bubble. AV has dropped the ball on this one IMO. |

Well. We deserve it with our play of late. It doesn’t get any easier with who’s on the sched and the fact that it’s almost a game every Other night. So the team has to grow a set and start playing better with no time to practice. Tall order. |

You won't gain anything by sitting NP. He missed a lot of time already, missing more time just sets him back even further.
What they should do is make him earn his ice time and PP time back. Lindblom, NAK, Laughton are more deserving of those opportunities right now. |

I think with lack of practice time, go with the most intuitive group that the classic unit would work with...
Net front- Patrick
Slot- Farabee
Left to right- Giroux, Ghost, Voracek
Use JVR, Coots, TK, Provy and Myers for the second unit.

Use what Mullen used. He always had top end PP. It isnt hard. Therian is a serious liability at this point. |

NP struggles are real and I agree with you. Sitting won’t help, but NAK doesn’t shoot very much either. |

You have Gus on the roster. He can clearly help a PP unit. Hagg doesn't help anything. Gus should be dressing and on the PP. Then the coach has to coach to limit his 5 on 5 minutes.
Patrick hasnt earned any PP imo. |

Gus turnovers scare me and I don’t think he has had time to develop chemistry with G and Voracek with no practices.
Call it a gift then. It is something Patrick has done well with in the past and a chance for him to gain confidence from success helping the team score.

Walking my dog this morning I noticed I was trudging through something - kind of felt like walking through deep snow. I was puzzled because it hasn't snowed in over a week. Coming to this thread I now realize what it was. It was the sky. The sky has fallen.

Patrick's entire NHL career has been a non-stop string of gifts. Par for the course for a 2nd-overall pick, I suppose, but at some point he's gotta show that he can do more w/ all those opportunities.
You know he's currently dead last among forwards on the team in shot generation and scoring chances per 60. They're 20+ games in... and he's still struggling just to get a single look on net most nights. It's mind-boggling. |

Gus is far from perfect. you live with ihs mistakes if he gets the PP going. Comes down to the coach utilizing him properly. Av needs to earn his money. |

While I have seen him start to get more involved physically, IMO he is still playing WAY too much on the perimeter. He doesn't seem to have the confidence to carry the puck or try to make anything other than the safe play. |

Some were more confident than others that the flyers were virtually lock to make the playoffs with the hot start they had. It’s going to be a close race and a very real possibility they don’t make it if they don’t tighten their up quickly. |

We’ve had summer after summer after summer of tweaking the roster, being patient with players who are not and never will be part of the solution to becoming a legit contender. This franchise has been patient to a fault. The fan base has been asked to be patient...enough with being patient. Fletch needs to sh*t or get off the pot. |
