He already signed long term in Edmonton lol

Yeah, but I can totally see him requesting a trade.

Yeah but you can’t trade Guentzel like he’s advocating and with the state of our cupboard, you’re probably pigeonholed into keeping rust if you want to limit trading futures moving forward.
- Victoro311

You probably shouldn't unpack that much from what I said. Guentzel wouldn't need to be traded immediately. But at some point well before UFA yes I'd explore that.

Depends on the trade offers for rust and what he would re-sign for. I definitely don’t think they should let assets expire without getting anything for them.
- Feds91Stammer

Well next year is the last on Rust's deal. That means either trade him soon, or sign him to an expensive new contract that starts at age 30 and hope he has value later. Which would you do?

What’s the trade market offering? Will he take a 3 year deal? These are the main things that I would take into consideration.

Edit: this is for Rust. Quoted wrong post.

Yeah that was what i was saying last blog. I’m not sure the term is as important as cap hit. Obviously you don’t want stupid term for a 30 year old, but if the cap hit is low enough that a 34 year old Rust would be a marketable TDL asset with salary retention, it’s probably smart to make the deal vs overpaying for yet another Jason Zucker. It saves assets and possibly generates more down the road. I don’t see upside in letting Rust walk just because he’s 30.

Wilson’s a symptom of a much bigger problem. It’s objectively smart to play the way Wilson does. Player safety doesn’t give him or his team serious punishments. The instigator has killed the “unwritten code” so he never has to answer the bell or worry about his teammates getting ran in retaliation. Nothing matters.

You underestimate the proud Canadian hockey boy.

Now in saying that this is the organization that traded #99 albeit with a completely different owner and front office haha but still...its possible he doesn't stay there but I think its also possible they win a cup before that happens.

The league picks and chooses when and which rules to follow and enforce, and IMO that's the biggest problem of all. While of course there should always be objectivity since not every situation is exactly like the other, the same standards should always be in place and they are not.

On top of that, the league takes into consideration all the wrong things. When looking at the guilty player and judging the severity, of course you should take past actions in consideration, but it shouldn't matter what team they play for, the team they were playing or how good the player is. Not to mention they also judge the victim based on what team they play for and how high profile they are which sends a message that not all players are important.

Carlo may not be a high profile player, but the fact it's the Bruins makes it a high-profile game. If Wilson did this do some AHL call-up against AZ, you know it would have been different.

I haven't been following the roster numbers and sh!t much, though I know there's somewhat of a log jam, or paper moves which I leave that up to Tojo and/or Feds haha, but could this be an indicator that McCann wont be a longer term injury?

It doesn’t inherently mean anything. Could just be for cap flexibility moving guys up and down on non game days.

Could mean McCann is fine.

I wouldn’t read much into it.
