True that AV has played Ghost with Provorov, but its clear that its not working, he basically stated that yesterday. He is looking for Myers to step into that role, which I am sure was the plan all along going into this season and probably the reason Fletcher didn't try to hastily fill in the off season. The question is, do you give it the entire season for Myers' game to improve enough and risk missing the playoffs, or do you go until the deadline and make a deal if a player you like is available? - jd250
it is less about "has it worked" it is about the best option and Ghost has been that so far. |

The Flyers despite their winning record are actually in be trouble from my view. Elliot who is not very good is outplaying Hart. Gostisbehere a healthy scratch to playing the best of all D currently. Hayes has been brutal lately, Patrick is pretty much invisible, Konecny is a turnover machine and clearly not the player he can be. On the positives JVR continues to shine, Couturier is the best player on the team and it shows and Farabee continues to impress. All the rest have been inconsistent from game to game. AV is looking like he has run out of ideas to mesh this group and I think a trade of some sort might just shake these guys up. That being said lets go Flyers and do some Capital punishment tonight. The only consistent thing we got going right now is Bill Meltzer who continues to be a power performer. |

just my opinion but Sanheim and Ghost have been the most consistent D this year. Provy has struggled, maybe it is the partner but he has fumbled the puck a good bit compared to the past |

Just heard on NHL radio that the Bruins still have all 8 games against Buffalo yet to play. - MBFlyerfan
With how well their special teams do I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Buffalo starts getting some wins.

Going back to what we were talking about earlier about the broad street bullies. We’ll never be able to back to that. It’s impossible. However, we still bow to guys like Eric Lindros and Chris Pronger as the next best thing and we should. The 2010 team was a perfect mix of both skill and toughness and I believe we need to get back to that. I’ll tell you this, last season Stanley Cup Final, I thought the two best players for both sides were Victor Hedman and Jamie Benn. Skill, size, toughness. Both guys were carrying their teams on their back.
I’ll leave you guys with this. If Nolan Patrick can put it all together, won’t he be that next beloved Flyer player to be big, skilled and tough that the city should love? |

Could we see Carter Hart to the taxi squad for Sandstrom if he does not get his rebound control figured out? - Bayareaflyer
I doubt that is even on the radar screen - if he even could go without claim issues.

Its an amazing stat. #1 PP and top 10 PK. Yet still near the bottom of the league.
Completely counterintuitive.

Good morning flyers fans on this Thursday morning. Anyone have any cinnamon rolls to start their day?
So hypothetically speaking, If Laughton was on the trade block could the Flyers get a 1st round pick back in exchange for his services. - login
I wonder if Maxine Cum Twat is available from Anaheim? Straight up for #21 |

Those aren't Don Beaupre's stats from 1985, they are Carter Hart 2021. - PLindbergh31
Definitely wasn't expecting to see a Beaupre reference today. Well done. I used to love the way Gene Hart pronounced that name. God I miss Gene.

I fail to see what you see in Patrick unless it is sarcasm, lol. After the first few games of the season Patrick has been a waste of space. The loss of Niskanen has opened up a bunch of holes defensively. The number one priority should be acquiring a solid two way dman if possible, Ekholm is that. It is never good to have your goalies playing defence while trying to stop pucks. When your supposedly top dman Ivan Fumblethepuck Provorov can not complete or accept a simple pass on a pp we are in trouble. Gost could easily be traded for a good return the way he is playing right now but it appears he has his mojo back, and thankfully he is still here. |

Here is a quote from a report on Broad Street Hockey:
Egor Zamula (LHD), Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL)
Undrafted
3/3 - 0 SOG
3/6 - 0 SOG
Combined note below!
Linus Hogberg (LHD), Lehigh Valley Phantoms
2016 5th Round Pick, 139th overall
3/3 - 1 assist, 0 SOG
3/6 - 1 SOG, 2 PIM
It was, again, a pretty quiet week for Hogberg, though he did pick up an assist. He spent it paired with Zamula, and it’s a pair that, in short, isn’t really working. They’re both still adjusting to the AHL level, we’ll acknowledge that, but both have struggled on breakouts, meaning they’ve often been caught hemmed into their own end on their shifts, which has in turn hindered their offensive games. Maybe they turn it around with more reps, but right now they’re feeling some bad habits in each other.
I also read from our guy Bill that Zamula has been struggling to adjust so far this year. I also want to correct something I said earlier about York. He is actually turning Pro after this season, so he should be joining at least the Phantoms next year. How well and fast he adjusts will determine if/when he starts making an impact. - jd250
Okay, that’s it. 2 games of a tiny 10 game sample. Who knows how they get their stats and it’s not even looking at actual scoring chances.

Flyers need a solid win where they take a lead and maintain it through the third. Their last two wins were come from behind scrambles against the Pens and Buffalo. They haven’t had a convincing win against a playoff contender in over a month. The last was 7-4 against the Caps pre COVID. Time to get down to business and play with some consistency. - Djapana
Well said, the last couple of games have been on par with pond hockey with a bunch of the boys. It is clear that several players are in a mental state that does not allow them to make simple passes, pass when they should shoot, etc Lots of them |

I agree with this wholeheartedly. There seems to be a lack of trust in one another. Players seem to be over pursuing and getting themselves out of position as if they don't trust that the other guys on the ice are going to do their jobs.
You can call it the Kelly Lee style of play (for you original Bad News Bears Fans) When he was running around catching everyone's fly balls because the coach and he didn't believe they could catch it themselves. The difference being the other team swiftly occupies the empty space because you left your assignment to cover someone else's. That to me reeks of a lack of confidence in what everyone else is doing.

My issue isn't so much with wanting more toughness on the team. My issue is with the way people always invoke Ed Snider when talking about team toughness. I'd love this team to play with more aggressiveness, but I'm not really concerned about fighting or retribution. |
