It takes 2 weeks for the 1st dose of the Pfizer vaccine to maximize the antibodies and take full effect. The original tests on efficacy were being done within those 2 weeks and came in at around 52%. Once they figured it out and started testing after the first 2weeks the efficacy was up to 92%.

So they determined it was not as important to get the second shot shortly thereafter. A computer automatically schedules your appointment 112 days later. At least in London ON
