Eight.
That is the number of consecutive times Frederik Andersen has lost a series-deciding game in his NHL career.[/quote]
I agree. |

Interesting.
Is he still a decent goalie or have age and injuries caught up. - Aetherial
I'm feeling like Gibson is another guy who can be had. |

Gibson has been absolutely putrid this season, bad team in front of him or not. We think Andersen hasn't been good...
Over the last month, 3.98 GAA, .863 SV%
Yeah I can't see that helping anything before you even factor in what it would take to acquire him. Because the Ducks aren't giving up one of their most valuable assets for picks and prospects... |

Even funnier if you watch your best player take an unpenalized cheap shot that causes a significant injury and shrug your shoulders and say oh well. - winsix

I don't like Vesey at all.
We have no desire to reward Sabourin for his suspension-worthy level of idiocy.
A "player" like him isn't a disincentive to the other team. In these days of Instigator penalties and antagonists, a guy like Sabourin would cost you more than he'd ever get you. I think a player like him is a welcome mat to doing something to the star players so you can goad him into something stupid. - Monkeypunk
Would you rather take a chintzy penalty for a tap on the gloves for two or beat the crap out of an opponent for taking liberties with your star players? That tap on the gloves is still a penalty in the playoffs and those brutal cross-checks that are not called during the regular season have to be an axe murder level of infraction to be penalized in the playoffs.

Freddy under .900 save percent. Now 48th in the league. Tell me that's not piss poor. - bixll
You’re including goalies that played 8 minutes this year. I could be top 10 too 🥰

Fighting is the point of MMA, it's fighting. Hockey doesn't need fighting any more than MMA needs nets and a puck. |

Objectively - both are opinions. Stats are facts and the save percentage is a reasonable stat. Statistically, Freddy has had one good game since returning from injury. That is a fact. Whether a shot is stoppable or should be stopped is an opinion. Whether a goalie is good positionally can also be open to some interpretation, however, it seems reasonable to me that if a goalie is flat on his stomach with arms outstretched, he is in a poorer position to stop a shot than if he is standing up square to the puck (I could be wrong about this) Another grey area which might escape the scrutiny of statistics would be the goaltenders ability to handle the puck. If you watch the replay of the third Jet goal from last night (I've watched it about 10 times) Freddy clearly misplays and loses the puck behind the net and Lowry taps a really slow shot (very stoppable in my opinion) right under Freddy's pads. - winsix
Thornton and Matthews did not go out of their way to pump up Ander5en for no reason. It should be pretty obvious that they did it because they know he is the weak link.

I dunno, I think Anaheim would be crazy to trade him. Good contract, still fairly young. I think he is still a piece that Anaheim needs during a rebuild.
Be great if we could get him. I feel like an upper-third NHL goalie would put the Leafs right in the middle of the contender conversation. They are almost there now, but the goaltending is a serious weakness.

I'm not terribly worried about Gibson's numbers with ANA when our own goalie, with a much better team in front of him, has been pretty damn putrid himself.
Gibby's NTC kicks in next season so now would be the time for ANA to trade him. The question is whether they think they'll be contenders any time soon and if Lukas Dostal is a stud and is close to ready to making the leap.
As per the price: Willie. Add pieces on whichever side of the equation you think gets this deal done. |

Oh there was definitely love.
Thornton signs... and first thing he mentions is the average goalie that effectively ended the Leafs season by letting in a dribbler from the goalline, Not the best goal scorer in the league, or Tavares, Nylander, Rielly, Muzzin...
Leafs finish off a massacre of a thoroughly dispirited and outplayed Oilers team, and Matthews singles out Ander5en, who was a utter non-factor, in fact the only one who didn't get a shutout. |

I'm not for fighting, but revenge that's a different matter. When an opponent takes liberties with a star player or a goalie what do you think is a reasonable remedy. Assuming of course that the officials made no call and did not want to see it?
