Yes. The Ducks should rebuild, They do have several young bright spots now that could accelerate the process and one of the brightest Is John Gibson. Don't blame Gibson on a horrific coaching choice and an anemic offense In general. |

I like the look and skill set of Dostal.. So much that you have to listen to offers for JG.
It would have to be substantial but gotta do it.
Trade everyone not named Z or Drysdale or Perreault.
Once again Lindholm and Manson can't play 50 games w/o going on some kind of long term DL.. just sucks.
The biggest thing though is that both Murray and Eakins need to get the boot now. |

Don’t waste gibsons prime years
By the time they are ready, he will be on the wrong side of 30. He can net you an amazing return if done right. By the time players like drysdale and Zegras are ready for prime time dostol should be ready as well. Plus what u get for Gibson???
Think bold. Gibson is elite but wasted on this team at this time. |

I still say put Gibson out there. Get back a great haul hopefully and time the rebuild with the rest.
If u are going to tear it down, tear it down completely. |

I admit I do not pay much attention to the Dusks, but I understood they have been mired in slow rebuild for a few years now. It defies logic to believe Ducks ownership/management thought this squad can be retooled to compete. I also believe all other GMs know all Ducks players are available for trade, but they simply have no interest in the lingering remains.
Obviously the entire roster and Gibson are available. Gibson should be moved out ASAP so the team can get closer to a lottery pick. All recent cup winners have at least 2 or 3 elite players, which the Ducks are yet to draft. Moving Gibson now will hasten the rebuild, which still appears to have many years remaining. |

Some of the other guys are solid and could be helpful to contenders.. but Murray screwed himself by giving them outrageous contracts...
To move Silf or Rico you have to eat at least 35% of salary and that really limits what you can do.

Who is a goalie away from contending for a cup. I would have said colordao but grubauer is killing it.
Philly but can’t see them giving up on hart so soon
Edm perhaps.

Trading for draft picks doesn’t do the Ducks any good if Murray is still running the team. Need to move out Bob. |

Draft is thin this year. Need NHL-ready prospects in return on any deals - guys who are blocked because their current organization is stacked. And it looks like the coach has lost the room, so time for changes at the top, starting at GM. |

For everyone who says we should trade Gibson. "Are you crazy'". There is no such thing as a good haul for a goaltender. The best you'll get is a lottery protected 1st and prospect. And probably a roster player just to match salaries.
The truth Is more than half the teams In the NHL want a better goaltender. But not one of them will give us what we need to make this team better. And what we need is a top 3 forward or a lottery pick. None. Every one of these teams talks up the need for goaltending and says there doing everything they can to make it better. But look at them. They don't draft enough goaltenders to ever shore up there goaltender depth. They'll maybe draft a goaltender every other year. And when a top ten goaltender becomes available. They turn into Ebenezer scourge. Never truly offing fair value for that goaltender.
So since we can't get good value. But everybody wants a top ten goaltender. I say we keep Gibson. Why trade something that everybody wants, but nobody wants to pay for or develop. Why not keep our advantage. This is one of the few things that Bob Murry has been great at. Making sure this Ducks teams has a good starting goaltender and a capable back up. And drafting and developing goaltenders. If other teams are gonna walk off a cliff. I say let them jump. We shouldn't be following them to there doom. |

Such a tough question. The goalie market was crazy last summer, but its effects have been felt - where would Van be with Markstrom?
I think the yes/no really has to depend on the haul. Dostal is promising and the Ducks have consistently had great goalies starting with Guy. I wonder more if it is a market-based benefit (less scrutiny allows them to be more confident, effectively the reverse of Philly).
Either way, I think a rebuild is inevitable. I think Rakell, Manson, and maybe one more forward need to go. We need to prioritize not exposing our young talented players (Jones, Lundestrom, Terry, Mahura) that have really been the only bright spots on this roster. I also think you can expose Shattenkirk since he's been a bit of a dud...
Agreed that the future has to be the priority, but with Shane Wright coming in the next draft. I almost wonder if we trade for 2022 picks instead of 2021..... |
