Because Bettman hates Chicago and he tells the refs to look the other way when the opponent “whacks” Blackhawk players. Am I correct? - paulr

I have had many posts this year regarding Boqvist, but at some point something started to click for him. Could it be that he had been suffering from Covid earlier than being diagnosed. Since coming back from Covid, he has been electric with the puck and also showing his excellent skating abilities. Defensively, he keeps getting better with each game. I am sure there will still be growing pains with him, but the kid has cranked it up since coming back. Good to see because I have supported him from Day 1, but was starting to worry about him until he returned from Covid. Now, we need to get Mitchell playing with confidence, as I think he and Boqvist are the keys to the future on the blueline. - ChicagoHope
He might have been feeling some effects, but I think there is another reason for his improvement.
First, getting to watch regular season NHL games while his teammates were playing (and also getting input/guidance from the coaching staff on those games) allowed him to form a better understanding of what is expected of him and how he should perform or react to various situations.
Second, the public recognition that this year was essentially a development year, and the staff allowing players to make mistakes and either keep playing or not be in fear of completely losing their spot in the lineup lets him play more naturally and instinctively. While it may be dangerous at times, he has been pinching more (and deeper into the zone) lately. This allows him to use his offensive talents more effectively. |

You are talking development of dmen
If dmen can fall into slots, next season & following years I hope that Mitchell in #1 pair and Boqvist #2 pair are anchors.
My leading choice for third pair is want to see Kalynuk as he is better mail carrier, better size and can battle somewhat with aggression. I like him over Beaudin but I really would like Beaudin to become quite solid and earn a spot. Eventually Beaudin could be #2 or #3 pair but worry the second and third pair is a light pair against bigger size foes. Somebody here now could insert in second or third pair as the muscle guy. Eventually that job has to be offered to Vlasic if he develops. There could be a fast riser in 1-2 years whenever Kaiser comes out. Then a more proven Beaudin might be traded for ?
That's how I want the defense to shake out. Oh Keith is here at least through next season. Sooner or later Murphy and Zadorov will be pared. They stick around one of them at mimimum partial next season [why] as their muscle and experience is needed (not as much as for Zadorov). Although I do actually like keeping Zadorov insofar as dress seven dmen occasionally.
Carlsson must make a stand for a job. He is one of a few whom could be scooped up in Expansion. No qualms if Carlsson or Strome or Highmore were plucked |

Think about this - The children of the refs from Lysiak's time are now officiating NHL games. The union doesn't forget.

In one year Boqvist will cost as much as Murphy and Zad, two years for a couple of the other guys. Therefore, there is no rush to lose Murphy or Zad. |

I remember when Glenn Hall punched Vern Buffey, it is more ingrained in the union then when Schoenfeld told Koharski to eat another donut

That passage of time is significan't too. Some of us are age 50 or 60 +. I still do the math because I just don't see that age when I look in the mirror. Some arthritis not too bad. I might do the opposite of some of you, and resume playing ice hockey in older age.
Steve Rain: if you cannot play any longer, I do hope you derive much satisfaction watching your kid(s) play.
6628: Did you watch the women's hockey at the new rink next to United Center was it just this past weekend or two ago? Good exciting action. |

We or are least I do not always understand what is happening on the ice but I perceive you are being funny about the tin foil helps you receive transmittal. Not saying anything about undestanding the content. We don't want to discuss politics here.
I would however like to know how Tim Horton's coffee compares to the reknown American brands. Taste? How much is a cup of coffee in Toronto? Cost more/less elsewhere in Canada? |

To have another donut, FATSO, was my recollection. Laughed during the years over that wisecrack. Even funnier was Koharski mentioning he never ate donuts.

The Glenn Hall incident isn’t something I’d heard before. The Schoenfeld donut comment was funny, especially with Schoenfeld’s northern Canadian accent. Have anuther doonut you fat pig. |

Whoever dished out that outrageous suspension to Lysiak, should have been forced to serve time in prison. Not actually, but you know what I mean.

I’m not much of a coffee drinker. My limey mom hooked me on tea. My Dad used to drink this sludge called Turkish coffee, It had a very strong bitter smell. He used to drink eight to ten cups a day to go along with his two packs of cigarettes. My wife says Timmys coffee has gone downhill after they changed suppliers, apparently McDonalds jumped in and use Tim Horton’s old coffee supplier. My wife prefers McDonalds coffee. A medium coffee at Timmy’s is about $1.50 ($1.87 or so USD). |

The past two games, the Hawks fore check has not been working, thus more time spent in their own zone, not recipe for success. What I would like to see, and Collison will not do, don't bother with fore check as much, but instead, concentrate on bottling the cats in the neutral zone . this will have Hawks spend less time in their own zone and they can create neutral zone turn overs and counter attack with their speed. Sort of making it a "half court" game. On top of that, if cats have their head down in neutral zone, zadarov can lay some heavy hits .... Creating more turn overs to counter attack. |
