I was just reading different comments and it is funny how different people see things so differently.
Gaudette scored a big goal against Price to get it to OT and he got the shoot out winner last night . Aside from those two goals I think he has been invisible. I have seen one or two plays he missed open nets. I don't find him aggressive with hits or toughness. I would even be okay parting ways after this season. Yet I see quotes like I like his energy.
I say the same thing with Jake.
Me personally I would like an upgrade on both players and I am not in favor of bringing back Pearson. |

There is literally not a single player I wouldn’t “like an upgrade” on if one were available. But that isn’t the made most often.
For example, Travis Hamonic, if he is legitimately a top 4 D, and you want to re-sign him, it is going to cost you more than $2m, and almost certainly more than 2 years.
You have to be willing to pay people what they are worth, and you have to be better at determining who the people are that will advance your team. Not you you, I mean Jim and the scouting team.
For me, Gaudette is a decent, if replaceable, bottom 6 F. He is still young enough that he could improve marginally, and he is old enough that it isn’t likely he will ever price himself out of a job as a role player. |

I think Hamonic is worth more in the pre Covid era. IMO I would like to see him sign here 2x2 . If he wants more or longer I walk away. This has nothing to do with Jim and past spending. At the end of the day Canucks will have close to 30 mil this offseason to put together the team . It should be enough.
Players earning 8 mil in the pre pandemic era are in for a pay cut like most of the world.
I always have Gaudette as my 13 th forward with the thinking what if . Jake never makes my roster anymore.

They literally are, but the numbers on the page are going to be the same, because player A who needs a new deal and is better than or equal to player B isn’t going to work for less than player B because...Covid. Yes, there will probably be more short term “just get to the end of this” deals. I think like the rest of the world, it isn’t going to be the people at the top who lose out, it is the people at the bottom. Wealthy people gained more wealth this past year. Marginalized people struggled to put food on the table. I don’t think, for example, Taylor Hall is going to get a big new deal. He shot himself in the foot. But teams will recognize the star players with appropriate salaries. |

This offseason is a terrible year to go big name shopping and any team that goes in hard to get Hall is going to get bit in the ass. There is only 3 or 4 big names like Landeskog Hamilton Hall. Then some older type players like OV Getzlaf Rinne .
I suggest any UFA signings should be for a guy like Barclay Goodrow Vesey Hamonic. Something that will be cheap for the bottom 6 or bottom pairing.
If a team does want to make a bang the UFA field is much better the following year.

Ya true I would be kind of surprised if Gaudette and Jake shot up over their ceiling now. I think Gaudette has room to improve marginally but Jake has brick-walled for sure.
Pearson has been relatively productive albeit streaky. Do we have an update on his injury? Probably time to pack up Sutter and Pearson for TDL. Not having them here might hurt a bit short term but really it's time. Sutter has been ok defensively but his Offense has completely disappeared. Any word on Beagle/Rousell out as well? |

I'm willing to give Gaudette another season. His health/stomach issues have been holding him back from training and adding weight properly, so now that they've figured that out I'm interested to see if an offseason of proper development will help him.
Jake has played better of late, but he is still sitting at just 3 goals all year. That ain't gonna cut it. I can see him sticking around next year until the TDL, though, as his cap and money is a bit more difficult to move.
Trade Pearson and Sutter. And Benn. And Holtby if anyone's willing. The team isn't really gonna dip without those guys – it's Demko propping the team up by himself. |

I'm on board moving Sutter/Pearson but I would hold on Benn for now. Playing pretty well looks way more mobile this year. Doubt the return would be there. Holtby at 4.5 well maybe some GM will need him lol but that's a tough sell. I think he'll be better here eventually but there is no patience.
For sure move on from JV but his value is quite low. I still think a Boston trade makes the most sense and if you have to pack him up with Gaudette to entice Boston. We need players like Debrusk coming back. I would do Gaudette and JV for Debrusk today. |

I like the chaos. I hate the division and the year but I do like the uncertainty.

As much as fans on here want to sell everything , I am not sure management is there.
I would expect trade offers to be low value and teams looking to dump bad contracts. Not to mention Canucks are still trying to make the playoffs.

It's fun for this year and that's it. Need to get back to full travel and an 82 game sched to really gauge things. Hopefully fans are back in the stands fully by the fall and we can get past all the Plandemic bullsh!t. |

As long as they hang around that 16th spot not much will happen. I'm open to moving a few pieces but this sell sell sell crap aint gonna work too much which what we have to offer lol. |
