but isnt the goal to build a roster with the best players possible? forsberg is a good player, seems to be a good guy in the locker room. hes a legit first line player. i think if you can get him here, you worry about the cap over the summer. our cap situation sucks, so there has to be some creativity in play here.
janmark is an ok player but far from the deadline splash this team needs to contend. - slapshot018
Of course you want the best team possible without having to rip down or trade parts of the team you have built to get to this point. There are options like Palmieri, Hall that are also first line players that don’t come with additional years of Cap hit which we certainly can not manage without trading pieces you really don’t want to trade. As I said many times, if Lou knows something about Ladd’s knee issues that cause him to be placed on LTIR than Forsberg would be a definite fit |

Certainly not. I’d hope Lou could add an additional D like Oleksiak as well, in addition to Janmark. - Wildschwein
All for it, and as I said, if Lou can trade Hickey and or Komorov and their cap hit/hits then we maybe able to get Palmieri on top of that.
Going to be interesting what Lou and Co comes up with, especially with the expansion draft looming. |

Dallas is considering trading Jamie Benn who just captained the team to the Cup Finals??????
- JohnScammo
It was a question... are you accidentally an Odlid or does it come it come natural. I knew his name came up a while back with ties to the Islanders. But thank you for your input. |

IF Benn chose to waive his NMC, and IF Dallas decided to move their captain, then the price would be steep. Yet not quite as steep as his current 9.5 million per year deal, that STILL has 4 more years after this.
I’m a fan of the player, but I want no part of that contract. - Wildschwein
Thank you for the insight. I thought Benn because of his leadership abilities. I realize there are several hurdles and since Dallas is a .500 club I was looking at guys not named Hall. |

"Final thoughts
While Bowman and Lamoriello are talking, it might just make sense for them to discuss Andrew Ladd as well. A source said the Blackhawks are willing to take on a bad contract or two. Their preference is an expiring contract, but they’d explore something longer. They have a ton of cap space right now because of everyone who is on LTIR. They could easily fit Ladd’s $5.5 million cap hit into their books this season and next. The third season would be more challenging, but they could probably make it work if the return was enticing enough."
I would give a lot more up to get rid of Ladd. - niteislander
This might be the opening that Lou needs to move Ladd. |

I believe he was referring to mayfield getting nabbed in the expansion draft? I would take it a step further and say that even aho is a little untouchable at this point. He looks at least serviceable so far unless Lou is looking for some depth with size for the playoffs(which he probably is). Unless we find a to get rid of a lot of salary we’re not taking any contracts on for next year. - Cptmjl
Yeah obviously, I think he’s going to go for some depth that is better than what he has currently. |

Clearing some space totally makes senses. Looks like Komarov had a no trade clause to boot. So certainly not an easy deal to get done...
Hypothetically if we traded K-Palms and took Komarov what would you give NJ? - Queenie_5_hole

He has a 7-team no-trade list. It shouldn't be overly prohibitive, but I guess nobody has any idea who's on it.
I probably wouldn't pay any more than a 2021 1st for Palmieri with Komarov packaged along with it. A lot of speculation Palmieri might not even be worth that much. Ideally, without Komarov, I think something like two 2nd's would be fair for Palmieri...but if they took Komarov too I think a 1st this year would be reasonable. But not next year's, which it seems like is going to be the more desirable of the two draft years. - eichiefs9
Seems pretty reasonable to me. It’s hard to know how things shake out in this crazy year...
Good luck. It’s an unfortunate injury.

agreed - to pull of a forsberg trade you have to move a bad contract out, but im way more willing to give up a package of assets for a guy with another year left that is a true top line player.
