Someone has to say it so I might as well do it. This very well may be the softest Flyers team in the history of the organization. And I'm not talking about dropping the gloves or anything like that when it's 9-0. I'm talking about the way they play in general. I mean, they were already soft and then they lost 3 of their top 5 hitters(Niskanen, Thompson and Pitlick) in the off season. This team is a disgrace to the logo!! And now people will call for the coach's head I'm sure! No, the problem is with the players here. They've already been through 5 coaches and now it's time to point both barrels at the supposed leadership group of this team. Thanks!

Agreed on the coach....the guy that might be on the hot seat is Fletcher....this team was supposed to take a step forward...they have not. Fletcher was supposed to help them take that next step. It’s just not happening. Now what ? Do you have to over pay before a deadline? Or do you try and do your (frank)ing job in the summer and make the tough choices and clean some of these guys out. One things for sure, he wasn’t brought in to do the old Hextall shuffle and produce 5 more years of mediocracy.

Berube winning the Cup as the Blues coach is close. Hartnall called him a meatball. 😂😂

If this were a veteran group, I'd be concerned. But they're one of the youngest teams in the league, with a top-4 defense of 24 year olds, a starting goalie who's 22, and a bunch of other guys who barely need to shave.

I do have concerns about the veteran group though.

Valid point but I don't know how we got from one game from an ECF to this?

Niskanen was important but never did I think it would result in this.

Is he playing defense at LHV now? Moving him to wing was the dumbest thing ever. He hasn’t even showed he can play his natural position at the NHL level, so move him to a new position. 🤡

And of course there were some who went along with that.

Development is never linear, and people's expectations got out of whack b/c of one series win, even tho they played like poop against MTL.

I don't think this team has the kind of pure young talent to really rocket to a Cup out of the gate, like PIT or CHI did. But I do believe they can become a team like Tampa or Detroit, who overcame some pretty big disappointments and a lot of growing pains before turning into powerhouses.

Well that was embarrassing. Where do we go from here? Our defense prospects didn't progress to the level needed. We didn't replace Niskanen. Hart is struggling. There's no team identity.

This team is capable of so much more. They need to use this albatross as a turning point in the season. Get fired up. Or just ride off into the sunset because the Bruins, Penguins, Islanders and Capitals aren't going to be easy to catch up to. What I witnessed tonight was disgraceful. Get it together.

They've already, very recently, fired a head coach and GM. Now a player or two needs to go. It's time for this GM to do something. and bring in two good defenseman that can move the puck, and a forward with the sack to lay the body into someone on the opposing team. Unfortunately, they gave stupid contracts to some veterans, and that's just the way it is for now, unless some taem is dumb enough to take Voracek off our hands. The defense is young, playing scared and is inexperienced. Get Ekholm, and one more good veteran defenseman...one that doesn't panic in his own zone.

If NP's gonna be a disappointment, it's gonna put a lot of pressure on the scouting staff to unearth a real franchise forward in the next couple of drafts.

TK, Hagg and Braun were the only Flyers that didn't get scored on. I hope they paint 9-0 on the wall of the Flyers locker room. Embarrassment and pride can be a good motivator. I'm not expecting a win against the Fishsticks tomorrow, but they're should be a better effort. I don't expect a blockbuster trade by Fletcher, especially since the entire league knows he's trading from weakness, but I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of trade to shake this team up.

His not good enough play, and injury history, make it a wise move to sell high and move him now. He's been in the league for 3 years now, and his game has not improved.

I agree, this is probably the softest Flyers team I've seen. This team could use some added leadership and skilled toughness. But is this ship even worth saving?

You'd likely have to sell off some prospects to bring in a big difference maker. Does it make sense? A pathetic performance like that. Is it worth giving up some of the future for this present team?

Yes. If Carter Hart is your future goalie, you have to help him out. This defense is no help, and the offense isn't much better...honestly. They need a guy or two, who doesn't panic back there when the opposing team forechecks and plays aggressively.

That's my point. If Carter Hart is the future, does it make sense to sell off the future for this present team? If you want to fix this defense, it's likely going to cost us prospects. Then there's the whole expansion thing where we could lose a quality D for nothing.

There's some tough decisions ahead for sure. I'm interested to see how this management team decides to finish off this season.

Stating the obvious that the players are bad, but the franchise has a history of terrible luck as well. Starting in '76, having to face one of the best teams ever in the finals WITHOUT Bernie. Move on to '80 and we have a great team again but we have to face another dynasty and Leon Stickle. '84 and you get the Oilers with a super young team playing way over their heads. Lose Pelle the year after. And get bounced with Froese in '86 when the Oilers don't make the finals because of the Steve Smith thing. Hexy comes in '87 and you face a team with like 6 future hall of famers in their prime. The next 30 YEARS they spend trying to find a goalie. You put Forsberg into the Lindros trade instead of Rod. 88 can't stay healthy to save his life. '97 you face a pretty stacked Red Wings team, with one amazing line and not much else. Stevens ends 88. Blackhawks series was totally winnable in '10 BUT your starting goalie is Leighton and the guy you should've been able to draft scores the game winner. Pronger gets ended. And so on...

Then you get last year where we actually look like we are firing on all cylinders with a young stud goalie and a really deep team. Oh wait, global pandemic strikes.

Pivotal moments that you need to be lucky on and you aren't. #1 overall when it's Mel Bridgeman. #2 when it's JVR and Patrick.

Maybe the franchise needs a good exorcism to get rid of the curse of Jerry Wolman. Can't possibly hurt. Then again, knowing this teams history...

Cups are the end all be all. But those teams of the past were MUCH MUCH MUCH better and enjoyable to watch, than the poop they have put together since 2010.

They traded division championships with the Devils for like 10 years, won series, won conferences. They ran into some really really good teams in the finals and if that ‘04 team wasnt decimated by injuries they would have won the Cup.

I’ll take that any day of the week. The Flyers were a team other teams were afraid to play because they were tough and talented.

That said, the cap has changed that. You can’t be haphazard anymore. And the Flyers have not adapted well to it.

Your point is valid, but the Flyers for the majority of their existence were one of the best teams in hockey. Always relevant. To see them be so BLAH, irrelevant, poopty has been hard for fans to adjust to.

Lastly, to see a Flyers team quit in that second period, show no fight back in the game, totally unwilling to mix it up a little, and be totally defeated in the postgame press conference, ESPECIALLY after not backing up Laughton the other day is spitting on the legacy of everything this franchise has ever stood for. I’m embarrassed by how they showed ZERO push back. They rolled over.

You want to know why fans are upset, well there is your answer.

Yup Anders Lee out for the season we're going to lose 10-0 since we lost to a team without their coaching staff
