I would not classify any of those as knee jerk reactions.

Bryzgalov was the epitome of a knee jerk reaction. Maybe the worst in NHL history.

I don't mean this as a personal attack because you seem like a smart guy, but this is pure nonsense. You are going back 10+ years to a time before Hextall started?? Since Hextall took over and now with Fletcher, there has been no knee-jerk reactions and no major changes in philosophy. Signing Hayes was a necessity given how badly Hextall screwed up by drafting Patrick, thus we had no 2nd line center. Its turning out to be a bad move given how poorly Hayes has been playing this year. But Hextall signed JVR in 2018 to a similar contract so this seems pretty consistent.

Its poop like this is the reason I cant take you seriously.
Patrick was coming off a decent year and his situation hadnt fully manifested yet. Its premature to say screwed up at athe point of signing Hayes. Hayes was signed as the third line center and to help ease Patrick into his role and the move was criticized because paying a 3rd line center 7 mil is steep

I’d almost argue he’s the same as Bryz lol. Few good years in a good system , left and got exposed

He was the goalie of the future, then suddenly he was a backup, then he was out. All in the span of 2 seasons. Won the Vezina the very next year.

He was Carter Hart's age at the time, which is scary. I really hope the Flyers have more patience w/ hart.

Bryz was coming off a vexing type season. The goalie of the future? He was the exact same thing as Bryz, few good years in a good system, left, got a huge contract and is now an albatross on their cap

Not even close. Bob was standing on his head in Columbus. Bryz benefited hugely from Tippett and Sean Burke.

I think last night was a top to bottom issue with the origination. Fletcher not filling the Necessary holes in the line up and signing a unnecessary player. Too many changes in the line up from night to night by the coaching staff. Bottom 6. Third pair. Different goalie every night. Not taking timeouts to rip the team or waiting too late to pull our starter. One of those guys needs to take the ball and run with it. The entire team is playing bad team defense.

I'll agree for the most part but this one statement is just ridiculous. Sure it hasn't worked out but to say he screwed up when he did exactly what every other GM would have done is patently absurd.

We had a two time Vezina winner. And no that is not a hindsight comment. Lavy screwed that up royally and the franchise panicked.

I hate when people blame Lavy. What was he supposex to do? He saw how bob was playing, practiced and how he carried himself. Bob, himself, stated he didn't have any confidence. This is why he .ade the switch. Now, given all of that, i wanted to keep bob and sign the dude that went to Pitt as a bqckup and vetern mentor. But during that seriea, PLs hands were tied by a young kid, trying to acclimate to North America, and being thrown into the hw Philly Fire of playoff hockey

This is simply Delusional. There have been no changes in direction. The Flyers are still drafting. There have been very little in the way of major changes or trades. There surely has been nothing knee-jerk about Fletcher and his approach! Hextall got fired because he deserved to get fired .. GET OVER IT!
- jd250

This is so funny I don't even know where to begin. Flyers history does not start when Hextall became GM. Like I said, I'm not surprised.
