i saw that yesterday its just great - Upstate_isles
I posted this when he left . I had no problem with him leaving the Islanders at that time. They were a joke and a disgrace. I would leave to. What upset me is that he picked Toronto a team that has not won a cup in my lifetime and is closing in on 20 years of not winning a round. When you leave a team your looking to improve your situation not make it worse. He could of picked Pittsburgh Washington Tampa Blues but he rather go on a dumpster fire of a franchise that is incapable of winning a round. Guess losing is fine with him. |

Elliot who has been a pretty consistent goaltender his entire career has not been so wonderful himself. Hopefully that continues tonight and the defense in front of him continues to be a sieve. |

Sean Couturier to be game-time decision. AV says MRI showed aggravation of old hip injury but hope is he'll be able to play.
Shayne Gostisbehere comes in, replacing Nate Prosser. Brian Elliott starts in goal
Maybe no Coots again too, that'd be nice |

Take whatever we get. It would be nice to pull another win out before we go on this little break. |

Speaking of the possible break, has there been any word concerning the Bruins? |

Definitely not playing them tomorrow Thursday’s game is up in the air. If the NHL had any brains we wouldn’t be playing them Thursday so I fully expect we’ll be playing them Thursday. |

yeah The Flyers D reminds me of Weights ( non ) defensive structure he had the Islanders playing. Goalies can only do so much. I actually feel sorry for them. |

I have very high expectations with Wahlstrom he has fit into Trotz system and sky's the limit with Wahlstrom - Hockeyislife
When Wahlstrom fell to the Islanders in that draft I way beyond fired up. He was one of the 3 American kids I was praying would some how fall to the Isles (Brady Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes were the other 2). He has an incredible shot, big kid 6'2" over 200 LBS, and he can skate. At the draft they compared his shot to OV (lil aggressive.. ). .. when the Rangers passed on him at 9 and took Russian kid Kravtsov I figured Edmonton would take bouchard or Dobson... I am still shocked we got him in that draft. All that said... I obviously think he has a ton of upside and will get better every year. (not best in the league IMO.. but I hope u are right and I am wrong and he becomes the next Mike Bossy). I would be very happy if he becomes a 30+ goal scorer a year. 40+ would be friggin amazing. |

Given the money he got paid I think a lot of the guys on these boards were nervous about giving him that money.... BUT ... If he wasn't going to sign with us it would have been nice to trade him at the deadline and get some picks/prospects.
AND.. if he stayed we would have been much better for the first 3 years of that contract with him as 1C and Barzal as 2c, Brock 3c..etc.

Flyers' D is young and talented. The best case scenario is they give up on a couple of these kids and trade them before they become studs... b/c if they stick with them I can't imagine how good their top 4 would be in a couple of years.
Sanheim 24, Prov 24, and Myers 24 all look like they could be insane if given the time.
somewhat shocking how much Gostisbehere has regressed. He was just insane in college at union. Dominated that Frozen four the year they won.

Superficially, this seems correct. However, with his roughly $11 million cap hit, we would have had issues fitting everyone underneath it. So whom would we have given up? And could Trotz have done for him what he did for Ovie, in terms of turning him into a 2-way player? If not, then I would argue that we are better off without paying $11 million for a one-way player. |

If we signed Tavares we would’ve never signed Komarov, Martin, Brassard, or traded for Pageau. The kids probably would’ve been thrust into the roles they were eased into now. I’m not so sure if we would’ve been better off with the incredible 1/2 centers or as we are now. I would say we’re better off now without him. |
