Dobson has been taken off the list but will not join the team on this road trip. - Hockeyislife
Saw that. So I wonder then if he actually suffered some effects of covid and therefore was not physically ready to play. Seems odd otherwise to not get him right back in
Edit:
"Dobson off the COVID protocol list. Trotz said he’ll remain on LI to “ramp back up” activities. #Isles"
Just getting up to speed after two weeks i guess

pretty amazing to me that the Islanders who had "very little in the prospect pool after Dobson" in almost every hockey blog on this site have 2 guys slowly creeping into the Calder conversation in Wahlstrom and Sorokin.
https://www.nhl.com/islan...march-22-2021/c-322799192 good breakdown of our prospects. If you watch the College hockey playoffs this gives you who the Isles have on each team too. - niteislander

Yeah now they just have to fire every, single, other referee they employ because they all officiate games the same exact way. Go charred earth and start over. The NHL has the worst officiating in all of sports this is just proof of what everyone knows is going on. - Cptmjl
How'd that work out when the NFL officials went on strike? |

Listen like the players they are the best in the world but the game is fast as hell now. It takes time and experience to get to that level and you can't just fire them all and replace them is all |

Dress up a few robots in striped shirts, use lots of camera angles, and develop a few algorithms to recognize infractions. Then you can fire all the refs. |

It was said tongue in cheek but with that said the refs aren’t and shouldn’t be part of the game. That’s not their job. We all know these guys make calls that aren’t always because they are actual penalties. The flip side is they don’t make calls when they should. What Peel just did validated that for the idiots that;
A. Didn’t realize this was happening.
Or
B. Convinced themselves it wasn’t happening which is even more (frank)ing stupid.
Go back to Paul Stewart or Don Koharski. There’s two refs that thought people came to see them and they should dictate how the games go. That’s the disconnect and the problem. It needs to stop. It probably won’t but it makes this league bush league period. Saying these guys are pros because they can keep up with the game means nothing. Whoopty (frank)ing doo. The NHL’s officiating is closer to professional wrestling them MLB due to this. Call penalties as you see them not with bias. |

Hey if it calls penalties as they should and not because of some egomaniac’s mood that day then sign me up. I’m all for it. |

Amen!! I remember John Thompson of G-town in an interview saying about refs in his game.
"A lot of these guys think this is a refereeing contest. It's a basketball game. No one is here to see the refs. They are not watching to hear them either... they are supposed to keep the game fair and call fouls if they see one. .... that's it.. nothing else."
This is a quote I think about a lot in regards to the NHL. No one came to see or hear you clowns. Call penalties if you see them and keep the game fair. The NHL refs have this absurd attitude about how they call games that's just absurd. Even the other night when Trotz who NEVER argues a call asked them to take a look at the goal for a kick. The one Ref skated over to the other ref and he dismissed it immediately... "no.. it wasn't a kick.. good goal.. drop the puck" ... You are so egotistical that you think you know better than a hall of fame coach with the ability to see it on an I-pad asking you to take a look at it? Fck you!! look at the goal.. period.
Linesman are absurd too. Does Barzal EVER get to take a face off at this point? He is chased over 80% of the time.. easily. Fck you.. drop the fken puck.

Maybe I'm reading too much into Lou's comments, but I feel like he's saying "no thanks" on Hall...
Of course, there are other names no doubt on Lamoriello’s list, but it wouldn’t be as long as the lists we have in the media or among fans.
“I think you’re guessing right, without going into it,” Lamoriello said carefully, meaning his list is likely shorter than projected. “You said it best, this is a team. Teams win championships.”
And if you look at how the Isles added J-G Pageau and Andy Greene before the deadline a year ago, that underlines this point.
“Andy Greene and Pageau fit in perfect when they came, it was seamless in the locker room, seamless on the ice, all of the above,” Lamoriello said. “Both are leaders from where they came from.
“Those are the type of similar situations you kind of look for. You can’t always have it happen, so you have to be very careful.” |

Since I have been a fan the officiating has been a joke. The series that truly angered me was the Islanders Hurricanes series. They gave that series to the hurricanes. Awhile back there was a game I think vs the leafs the islanders didnt get one pp and leafs had 5 or 6. An Islanders player was high sticked or crossed checked in the mouth and he was a bloody mask and no call nothing and a leaf took a dive and it was called. They lost the game and after the game was over we took to social media I think it was an NHL website and my comment was the only clean comment in there. I said the game was rigged. I cant say the other comments I would be banned in here. It was 35 comments. All 35 including myself were permanently banned from the website. Every person that commented was banned even two or 3 days later and I think they took it down the article. |

Yea I don't think they'd touch Hall with a 10ft pole.
Did you catch his awful pass he tried to force through on the PP last night that ended up in a Pens SHG? |

Well thats the human element to the game and robots aren't going to change it you need officials and if you can't keep up with the game out there you can't be out there cause then you're just in the way as well

I call games as I see them and people disagree and sometimes I have a poop game just like a player or a team does. It's also your angle and perspective out there when you are or are not making a call and sometimes you just (frank) up a call, it happens. I've seen pro players do a poop job at it because it isn't easy and there's a ton of things going on all around you. It's similar to coaching, Gretzky was the best ever and was a terrible coach yet guys that had a cup of coffee in the show are great coaches. I was amazed when I started how difficult it was and how good you need to be positionally to see the play and stay out of it too
For the record I get mad at the refs on my kids games when they don't know the rules although they are learning at that age like the kids and I get pissed at the refs in games at the NHL level too. It's a thankless job thats a lot harder than people think is my point |
