Realistic trade proposals for Ekholm, Ellis?
For me, I would think conversation starts with Myers/Sanheim or a very good prospect. I would think Ellis costs both Myers/Sanheim and a prospect/1st round pick. - PT21
For the prices being discussed Id rather have them wait until offseason and see if they could get Colton Parayko or Erik Cernak. Younger, better wingspan, element of physicality and could anchor the RHD1 for years to come.

I think there is plenty of blame go around but Bee probably gets about 60%, he had plenty of time to make a good play. Then Moose just a bad effort 30%, Ghost can have 10% - wcorvette
Ok ok. I am moving on.
I thought yesterday was a pretty good game. Usually against the Isles the ice starts to tilt downhill as the game goes on, and you see us giving up rush after rush after we get ahead. That did not happen yesterday.
I thought lots of people played especially well; I personally noticed: TK (especially), Couts (ofc), Oskar (great backchecking to break up that pass across the slot, many good plays in offensize zone), Patrick (decent, apart from not finishing, maybe I am biased in just noticing him out there), Bee (again apart from the defensive issues), Ghost, Myers, G, Voracek. JVR (played an intelligent game), NAK (great move to beat his man and come off the boards in 1 sequence in 3rd period), Braun.
Raffl, Laughton, Provorov, Sanheim: were decent
Two negatives:
Hayes: He seems to be in a different time zone from team. Both mentally and the game he is playing.
Gus: I thought Gus was supposed to be an offensive stud, defensive dud. Ample evidence of the latter, but I just don't see what is so special about him in the offensive zone, including on the pp. |

yeah they finally finished plays, meaning when they approached they either got the puck or tied up the man. The finished everything but the scoring opportunities. Gus, I cant agree more, I am a glass half full guy so Gus coming in I was ok but he is useless and last night was one of his better games. Hayes has been in well, a Hayes but I saw some small things last night that tell me he about to figure it out.

Much like Bundy in the past, I wonder if he has drinking problem. His play has dropped off a cliff from a year ago.

And if it goes off his skate right into the slot, you'd blame him for that too. |

His #s are not so dissimilar, frankly:
Last year, his #s were 69 GP 23 G 18 A 41P, -2
This year, his numbers project over 69 games to: 21 G, 28 A, 49 P, +5
Its more the way he is playing.

Btw, yo: your opinions differ starkly from some Preds fans about Ekholm/Ellis:
From Ek's board today:
I'd prefer it Poile dealt Ellis rather than Ekholm. It would get one of those terrible long-term contracts Poile dish out off the books, though I'm not sure what team would be willing or would even be capable of taking on that contract if he was available. For as good as Ellis can potentially be offensively, he's injury prone, gets tossed around by larger players, and is an average defender at best. - Squatchy
Somebody take the midget please and leave Ekholm be. Take Ekholm any day over Ellis who is small and slow, and has been like Arvidson lately he can't shoot on net, always misses wide. Ellis is hurt a lot too. - porterw1 |

Doesnt really. The issue at hand was always the premise that Ekholm is a better answer for our needs on D. I disagree unless the plan is to also make moves for a RHD who can play 1st pair minutes.
some posters who state that a 185lb defender can get tossed around isnt a revelation...its just physics. The issue is he can get tossed but it doesn't shy him away from contact and sticking his nose in there despite it. Same as Tory Krug.
My comment track was in response to the myth that Ekholm is more physical than him. not getting as easily knocked down at times when you weigh 30lbs more doesn't equate to physicality in the respect that blog posters were using it. |

Well what he did landed in the back of the net, how much worse could it get? You’re telling me he could not have corralled that puck? |

No. It was a hard (frank)ing pass, little warning it was coming, and he was skating right into it.
He actually did well to deflect it to the far wall (dunno if on purpose, but it worked out), and he followed that up with proper containment of Pageau. |

Dude! It was not that hard of a pass, and pageau also beat him to the net lol. He was containing him with one hand on a flailing stick, please go watch that |

NoPa looks like he had a good game last night. He was everywhere and doing everything.. except scoring, of course
But the kid does seriously look like he is improving his game lately.
I think everyone who is ready to give up on him is making a huge mistake,... His work away from the puck last night was strong!
I hope he keeps up the defensive side of things until his offense gets going |

I have a different opinion.
In addition to what we can at least agree was a less than successful puck transfer from F to G, had Elliott not moved quite so far to his left he'd have been able to get back to the right post in time.
A classic Flyers trifecta of small errors compounding. - Scoob
No question. I said it last night. Elliott overplayed the shot.

Opinions vary, fair enough. It was a poor pass for sure.
But imo Ghost had enough time to adjust, and even if he cannot, the pass cannot go so far away from him into empty ice in OT. - PT21
Please explain how he could've prevented the pass from going where it did once it bounced off his stick. You're foo base saying he had time to adjust. It was a bad pass. That's on Farabee and then it's on Elliott for overplaying and losing his net.

Actually you're the one who is delusional applying the standard that an NHL player should catch a bad pass. We know from watching hockey that is not a realistic standard. You also don't know what would've happened if had attempted to use his skate.

Let's face it prime Bobby Orr wouldn't have been able to handle that Farabee pass.
