I see the teaser rumour chart today is Bobby Ryan. So a 30% chance he goes to Edmonton? Just like other rumours, I have yet to see any explanation on the quarantine concerns. So let's pretend they make the best offer for Ryan. Now he sits in a hotel for 2 weeks. He then joins the Oilers, ice-cold, for their final 6-7 games before the playoffs. So a 34-year old sits in a hotel for 2 weeks and then joins a team in the middle of a war? Dubois is 22 years old and sat in a hotel for 2 weeks, and then immediately got injured. Why would the Oilers risk the same thing with a 34-year old? Not to mention 6-7 games is not enough time to develop any chemistry. If the Oilers want to add a winger, they could look within their division for a guy that can step in immediately. Like maybe a guy like Dzingel. He also plays LW, which is what the Oilers are looking for, whereas Ryan is RW. |

I thought Kuemper was the guy everyone was looking at? He was by far the hottest commodity this season. Then you said MAF? Then Gibson? But now it's Quick, who is clearly a downgrade from Anderson. Is there anyone else? King Henry? Hasek? Is Jimmy Howard still a possibility? - Kooleus
Until Andersen figures out what is wrong, or gets over whatever this dubious injury is, nobody is a downgrade.

As you said you can't ice a complete team of 18 - 22 year olds. Need a guy like Ryan to fill out the rosters, who's familiar with the NHL and is likely low maintenance to the staff.
Followed up by, you can supress ELC contracts if need be this way too. - Aaron_85
And he can show the young guys where all the best bars are.

Freddy may choose to go on IR. He's a free agent and probably thinks the Leafs will not pay him. So get his body right for his next team. Leafs might need a goalie.
A bunch of ifs there. Just saying I wouldn't be shocked.
A healthy Darcy Kuemper would be a nice add. Money adds up.

I WISH the Leafs (or anyone) would take him. Not saying he sucks, but I think it is time for him and his contract to move on to another team. |

Even at 50% $$ I don't think want Quick for 2 years. Have not watched much LA hockey this year. No idea how he looks. |

With a heavy heart, just received news that the St. Louis Blues, the fans, and the city of St. Louis lost a dear friend, Bob Plager this afternoon in a car accident. He had one of the biggest hearts for the sport of hockey for both St. Louis and the NHL in general. Our prayers for his family and an announcement by the St. Louis Blues organization. |

Trading for Ryan comes with some additional concerns. He has experienced a few significant off-ice issues the past few seasons and his play has been in decline for years. I do not think any playoff bound teams view him as quality playoff depth.
A trade to the North Division may be far more problematic. With consideration for Ryan's recent history, I assume there are virtual programs available for former addicts, however, I'm confident subjecting Ryan to self-isolation for 2 weeks is a risk GMs in the North Division will avoid.
Despite Eklund's genius, I am confident Ryan will not be traded to Edmonton this season. |

Give it up meat head!!! You have already come into the Wings comments spouting your b s. You obviously don't believe in second chances. Ryan has an absolute value at his contract, and the fact he has preformed on a train wreck of a Wings team. Leave his past out of it, he is trying to and deserves the respect from everyone to have that opportunity. gergeswillems already put you in your place once, dont make me get him after you again!!

Ek, are the Flames still heavy favourites to trade for Taylor Hall? Or are your sources saying maybe Hall would go to an actual playoff team? |

You just can't help yourself can you? You recently showed up on the Red Wings blog kicking dirt on Red Wings fans about how bad our team is. Uh, thanks Tips. You even went as far as claiming to be a former Red Wings player who now works in an "agency." You're a compulsive liar.
Now you're kicking dirt on Bobby Ryan? A guy who's battled demons his entire life and had the courage to do something about it? What kind of a person are you? No one is perfect. Especially a self absorbed, insecure loser like you. Just knock it off. Stick to hockey.
Bobby Ryan may not be traded to Edmonton. The quarantine period is a valid reason. But you certainly didn't have to add the rest of what you said. Talk about classless. Bobby Ryan has been declining. Most players in their 30s do.
But you're wrong. He can still add some value to a playoff contender. Just because he's 34 doesn't mean he's washed up because he's isn't. If he really were done there wouldn't be as much interest in trading for him. There wouldn't be talk of Steve Yzerman re-signing him this summer.
I'll tell you what I told you on the Wings blog. Get your facts straight. Stop lying. And when you talk out of your a$$ there's no telling how much $hit will come out. I know a phony when I see one and you certainly fit the bill. Have a nice day. |

I don't understand how anyone can know anything about this guy's life and take shots at him. All you really need to do is listen to any recent interview with him to get a sense for what a truly decent person he is and how far he's come. Like so many others, having a kid has transformed how he views his life. His numbers in a pretty dodgy situation are not terrible. Any team getting him for a playoff run would be reasonably certain they're getting the best he had left to offer. |
