And two years. That’s quite a bit of cake, even in the wasteland. - neem55
Ya I couldn't remember if it was 2 or 4 years...but it was a fair deal at 4 mil per regardless of term.. Good on him for going to the Flames lol now we just need to move Edler... |

They should extend Edler for another year or 2. |

this may come out of left field, but I think Nate Schmidt has been the best overall D-man on the Canucks this year. Has he contributed the same way Hughes has, absolutely not, but I think defensively he has been much better, and much better defensively than every other Dman who has played. - Codes1087
Ya Schmidt has been way better especially in the 8/10 run of wins. Quietly too. His point production is down a bit but that was expected coming from Vegas. |

Sure sure, as long as you don't factor in the 4-6 games in hand the eight teams that are 5 points or less behind them.
But, if you play it by points percentage, like the NHL did last year when the season stopped short and games were imbalanced... you'd probably get a much more accurate picture of where teams were at - NewYorkNuck
Ya the Points Percentage Narrative and the games in hand works great hey? lol
Again they finish where they finish regardless . |

The way Green and that are going. OJ needs games. Rathbone a rookie. Hughes has flaws. They lack size and toughness. They have the most potential. Right side right now is myers. - manvanfan
Totally agree on OJ. Looked like he was going to stay in but here we are. We have been weak on the right side since Salo left lol
With no contract we get what we get with Green. |

He was playing nicely earlier this season, but he can not handle the amount of icetime nowadays, to slow. |

Tanev was offered 4 mil per...but chose to leave for the extra 500K like Marky lol - LordHumungous
I've never seen this anywhere aside from speculation on here. Where did you get that? |

Tanev was offered a fair deal and chose to walk. Seeya. Doesn't look like the Flames are moving into the PO picture with Tanev in the line up lol - LordHumungous
Doesn't change the fact this team could use what he brought. |

I am sure Rod Brind'Amour is whining about not having a contract as well. |

And against other teams best competition nightly. Move him down the line up. Still could be useful. Going to need 2 lefties to play PK with Hughes never playing it. Im not sure if Rathbone has that skill or will have it by next season |

I don't think Rathbone will be ready next season.
Brooks watches the Utica games and mentioned that Rathbone is more of a rover, similar to Hughes. Not sure the team can handle 2 rovers. |

Oh for sure when he was healthy he was fine...it was just time to move on.
I've maintained in the past for this D to truly move forward we need to move on from Tanev/Edler and we are half way there. For the types who really love Edler they can always resign him for 1 year after he goes to a PO team at TDL lol |

He's a soon to be 35 year old Dman playing 21 minutes a night with a compressed schedule. I'll bet he looks better after the bye week.
I'll never understand how someone's value goes from top pairing to must get rid of. Drop his minutes, slide him down the lineup and pay him accordingly. Even if he only plays 16-18 minutes a night for 1 more year it's one less hole to fill. |

Just need some partners that are better or more defensively responsible.
Rathbone is more physical, with a heavier shot. Movements are similiar to Hughes. Harder pass as well.
Hamonic has been alright but he is not Tanev. David Savard is closer to Tanev than Hamonic, I think. |

Injuries and slumps among rookies happen as well. Would rather have someone you can plug in no worries. He just has to paid as you said paid accordingly |

I mean, if you want to disregard projecting where a team is going based off the games they've played, Ottawa still has a chance to win the division Just as likely that none of those teams below the Canucks win one of their games in hand |

Off season management house cleaning.
In the meantime, hopefully Benning has been told to trade his impending UFA's. |

if true, does that mean his authority is limited at the tdl? |
