Ya I know there is an actual "intent to injure" penalty but it's not used often and is a bit of a joke. I mean really if you think about how many "minor penalties" are in fact motivated by an intent to injure. I mean you high stick a guy in the teeth what was the intent to "separate the player from the puck"?
The only time you usually see the actual intent to injure penalty is when it's tacked onto another call because the actual offense was so bad.
Maybe the easier solution is to just use the intent to injure penalty alot more often than it's used now - and that's perhaps what you were saying? - Cush29
I though a 3 minute penalty was weird
I totally forgot about the intent to injure penalty existed.
They could use it a lot more |

I'm going to completely disagree here.
Up by five and the other team is taking runs?
Send them to the box. Keep sending them to the box until they figure it out.
Let the other team play keep-away, and run out the clock. - Atomic Wedgie
I said let the game go a bit. Exception to the rule would be what you're talking about which is penalties that are obvious blatant and dangerous.

see, paying 4 forwards 40 million is dumb and screws the cap so you cant do anything at the deadline

Marc Bergevin says it's "very unlikely" the #habs do anything before April 12 trade deadline. Adds that he has no cap space and would need to find a money-in/money-out transaction.

The stats that are being rolled out on "game management" are as damning as they are hilarious.
"The goal is game management where “fair” doesn’t mean play by the rules, it means both teams get their fair share of power-play opportunities. It’s why players always seem so frustrated with literally any call – because it’s difficult to know what actually is and isn’t a penalty when the definition changes every minute.
Going all the way back to 2018-19, referees get what they’re hoping for 25 percent of the time, calling exactly the same number of penalties on both sides. That may not seem like much, but that jumps to 62 percent for a penalty differential of one or less and 86 percent for two or less. Over half the games being within one penalty and nearly 90 percent within two feels like it’s by design.
A very large majority of games are as close to even as possible, which is the goal. No referee wants to be part of a game like Nashville vs. Winnipeg in early 2018-19 where the Predators had 14 (!) power plays to Winnipeg’s five, the most lopsided game over the last three seasons. Of the 2,343 games used in the data set, only 26 had a penalty differential greater than five. That’s just over one percent." |

Explain it to me like I'm a Senators fan:
How is this different from her plugging her headphones directly into the amp?
Thanks
Edit: I watched the video. You don't have to plug into an amp.
Cool.
Thanks again. |

For sure.

Yeah, it's like a tiny miniature amp that you can take around with you without hauling a box, practice anywhere just with a pair of headphones, get some crunchy sounds if that's your thing.
I would wager that it works best with an electric though, maybe not best for acoustic guitar with built in preamp |

glad this stuff is getting air time and articles.
I said this a while ago, but the Leafs get kinda screwed by that type of "game management" since they.. until this season been pretty much all skill and not much grit...teams like Boston can get away with all sorts of poop while they have to search for chintzy calls on the leafs to even stuff up...playoffs are even worse

yup
teams that purposely play like poopheads end up on top. is that really what the league wants to be known for?

From Ballard on, they all had a plan.
It was the same plan.
"Screw patience, let's get as good as we can as fast as we can, even if it means sacrificing the future."
I can't quite put my finger on it, but there must be a reason why Canadian teams can't get to the upper tier of the league.
I thought it was because no Canadian management team wanted to tank to build assets, but Edmonton has proved that theory wrong.
I think it's simply that for whatever reason, they don't have the patience to commit to a proper rebuild. It's always trade two firsts and a second for instant gratification. - Atomic Wedgie
Canadian teams have been close to winning Cups since the Habs won in 1993.
1994-Canucks lost to Rangers in 7
2004-Flames lost to Tampa in 7
2006-Oilers lost to Carolina in 7
2007-Sens lost to Ducks in 5

Would you be able to recommend which one I should get?
Available models:
AC30: Provides the AC30 top boost sound.
Classic Rock: Delivers the classic crunch of a UK-made 100W amp.
Metal: Gives you the extreme high-gain sound of a US-made amp.
Bass: Designed specifically for low frequencies, offering a wide-range response.
Clean: The ideal choice for fat, boutique inspired clean sounds.
Blues: The authentic, crunchy blues tone of a cranked tweed amp.
Lead: Searing, high gain lead tone that’s perfect for solos.
What the hell is AC30 to boost sound?
She's kinda all over the map in what she plays - everything from Fleetwood Mac to Taylor Swift.
She's not advanced, so I'm guessing not the Lead model. |

The statement that stands out to me is this one: "No referee wants to be part of a game like Nashville vs. Winnipeg in early 2018-19 where the Predators had 14 (!) power plays to Winnipeg’s five"
And my first thought is, "Everyone has days at work that they don't like doing something. You still do your job to the best of your ability and gut it out."
I know you agree with this, but the reiteration is simple: If we had more consistency in the way games were called and the way penalties were assessed, players would change they played, the game would be better, and the game would be easier to market and sell because new fans would understand what they were seeing.

They are roughly 1/4 of the league.
In the 27 years since the Habs won, they have had 5 out of 54 Stanley Cup appearances, and 0 out of 27 Stanley Cups.
That's pretty damning stats. |

I would love to see a stat on "missed calls". I would venture that the % of missed dirty/dangerous/causing injury infractions would greatly exceed the % of missed chintzy calls

Athletic article:
https://theathletic.com/2...e-d-buffalos-epic-streak/
I also saw a great chart somewhere on Twitter - it was from a hockey stats site - looking at the likelihood of your team getting the next penalty based upon score and # of previous penalties.
It was so linear it was frightening.
I'll see if I can dig it up. |

Blues - old blues guys
Clean - Fleetwood Mac probably falls into this category

I'd probably go clean or blues. They have clean sounds as well as possibility for some hairier distortion, the other ones tend to start out distorted and only get more distorted. |

I read a few things online, and they suggested that the AC30 was the safe bet - it's kinda the jack of all trades.
It arrives Saturday. Hopefully she'll like it, and she can play all summer in the back of our backyard. |
