I would disagree that they quit. It's more about being dysfunctional than in quitting. They attempted to compete all game. It's like the saying, work smarter, not harder. You can bust your ass all you want but if it's not in the right direction it won't matter. They're not a team. They're a collection of individual players. - MJL

What did he say? I appreciate the honesty. These bullpoop cliche answers when you’ve lost 9-0, 6-1, and 8-3 within the last 8 days doesn’t cut it with me. We are all held accountable in the real world, they should be as well. - Flyers1218
Said they’re getting (frank)ing wrecked in front of the net and making goalie look like poop. That they talk about being stronger and to not let one goal shake them but it still does and they need to be better. That there’s too much talent on this team for them to be where they’re at. Need to bear down and that this team lost its identity |

I’ve seen a lot of quit. Unwillingness to go to the dirty areas. Unwillingness to clear players out of the crease. Laziness in the defensive zone. Hell even Hart looked like he didn’t want to play tonight. |

Very true, but my point is that the Flyers lack a lot of offensive skill. They work hard and get very little results from all that hard work, while another team like the Rangers get a chance and bury it. Fletcher has a lot of work to do. - jd250
Yes and no....they need an upgrade on the back end for sure. They could use a few more players who can physically make the Flyers tough to play against. Right now it’s just to easy to play the Flyers...a nice place to come and pad your stats if your a skilled guy. |

Pretty much. There is no question that this team has the talent to be a much better team. I hate to say it but I don't see it turning around this season. if I'm wrong about that it will happen late and it will be too late.

Sanheim and Myers and even Provy have to engage more physically in their own end...you don’t have to blow guys up with hits, but these 3 for their size really need to ramp up the entensity. |

I don’t know the solution at this point. And while it’s clear the defense is a mess, the whole team D is awful. The forwards, due to their insane obsession to pass, are turnover machines.
They also fly the zone like no Flyers team I’ve seen before. Look at the gap between the forwards and the defense when the Flyers gain possession of the puck. Look at how many skaters from the opposition are in between.
Again, I don’t know the solution. I’d be letting assistant coaches go in the offseason. I’d be less worried about the expansion draft because outside of like two guys, no one is irreplaceable. Got to imagine there could be a taker for JVR from a team in contention. Eat some of Jake’s and get minimal return and there could be something there too. |

I also worry it’s not going to turn around. Players are being more vocal now, hopefully they walk the talk for a step in right direction. |

I don't think it's unwillingness. It's just a lack of attention to detail. It's little things. Look at the first goal. Flyers make a bad line change. Voracek comes off the bench and skates all the way back to the net defensively. However he turns around and puck watches and doesn't get Strome's stick. Easy tap in. I think what happens is when they get hemmed in, they get cautious. Afraid of making a mistake and lose their aggressiveness. It's shell shock. They don't know how to get out of this. I thought the Flyers were more feisty in tonight's game than in any game they played all season. You could see there was a collective effort to come out and play physically. They wanted to take it to the Rangers for embarrassing them last game. However the mistakes and breakdowns sunk them again.

Exactly. I see people here saying the Flyers need to mix it up. I don’t have a problem with throwing hands, but they need to start finishing checks. They need to become a more difficult team to play against. Because right now, other teams skate around without fear of being touched. |

There is no team that is going to trade for JVR or Voracek at the deadline unless the Flyers were willing to take a player or players back for similar salary. Flyers don't want to retain salary.

This year might be out of reach. But they still have to get these young guys going in the right direction. They also need to figure out some of the vets as well...are ya with us or no. If you don’t want to buy in then it’s time to move along. |

I’d stick with him. When you’ve been through the injuries he’s had, missed time, still working his way up and still not the worse defender among this group, I think you go back to him. I liked the fight. He was fumbling pucks early but he was also doing what this team struggles to do. Clear the zone. |

That’s the issue for sure...yes I like to see Morin tune in a punk like Lemieux but I also liked his d zone physical play as well. No one wants to play a guy like that when he’s on. He can punish guys, like all good solid d do. Now it’s only one game but I though he was a bright spot. |

Happy for Oskar!
A good night for Morin, too.
You know some days in life are just like this season. You make a good plan, nothing wrong with it, but things don’t break your way. Like standing there covered in manure watching your best friend puking on the grass. Well, it had been a bad day that started when friends ask you to join them after a game that night. You tell them no because you have work to finish. Then, your friend shows up to help so that you can finish early and be a teenager for a night. You don’t just stand there...there is only the one right choice. Back to the barn and finish shoveling the poop. See ya Saturday, Team. Let’s go Flyers! |
