When was the last time this team lost games 9-0,6-1 and 8-3 in the same week? I'm gonna say never. Time for someone to take the fall. Fire the asst. coaches tomorrow morning and put Jakey on waivers!! Thanks!! Patrick and Jakey a combined -8 with ZERO hits tonight. Bench them both and bring up a couple of Phantoms. Patrick looks like a high school player trying to play in the NHL. Dude spends more time on his ass than on his skates! WTF!!!

Ok so I spent about 2 minutes reading a few comments ... wake up people ! Forget the we need stronger hitting players and toughness and all the bs. It’s a wussy sport. No hitting. No fighting. No hard checks. No take the body. Game isn’t played that way anymore. Get over it. What this puss team needs is speed. Slow ass late too the dance heartless poops they are. That’s the Philadelphia flyers. That only changes when is as fans stop supporting these bums with cold hard cash. That’s all that matters to the bean counters. Wake up. Stop buying tickets jerseys key chains tshirts pajamas socks all the crap that filters to them. Nothing changes until the status quo changes. The problems that people think need to change by strength actually will be fixed by speed. Look at the good teams. They don’t hit they skate. And skate quick and fast. That’s the nhl now.

That's not entirely true. While it's agreed that speed is a needed element you have to look at the last few champions. These teams play a physical brand of hockey. TB couldn't get over the hump until they acquired players like Maroon and Coleman. Look at the Blues and the Caps. The Bruins in the Finals against the Blues. All play a physical brand of game.

Tell that to Vegas, Caps, Isles, Boston, and TB. Those teams hit, fight, etc. Flyers have moved so far away from anything that remotely resembles what for so long was the identity this franchise was founded on, feared and respected for. Yea, I know it’s a different era...but the type of product they’ve put on the ice this season and last is ball-less, timid, and lacking any urgency. The current culture is abysmal, and it starts with management and flows all the way down to every player that suits up.

Ok fine. Maybe a very slight “touch” of physical needed. Either way outside of a few we have zero speed

I don't think it's unwillingness. It's just a lack of attention to detail. It's little things. Look at the first goal. Flyers make a bad line change. Voracek comes off the bench and skates all the way back to the net defensively. However he turns around and puck watches and doesn't get Strome's stick. Easy tap in. I think what happens is when they get hemmed in, they get cautious. Afraid of making a mistake and lose their aggressiveness. It's shell shock. They don't know how to get out of this. I thought the Flyers were more feisty in tonight's game than in any game they played all season. You could see there was a collective effort to come out and play physically. They wanted to take it to the Rangers for embarrassing them last game. However the mistakes and breakdowns sunk them again.

Yeah, team defense is the hole in their proverbial bucket. They can pour in as much blood sweat and tears (and fighting!) as they want, its not gonna matter until they get that fixed.

This speaks to their confidence and their mental toughness, of which they are severely lacking in both.

This team needs a good 3 or 4 days of practice to reset, and they are not going to get it for a while yet. So they either have to fix their heads on the fly or admit to themselves they are a bunch of mentally soft snowflakes who fold under pressure.

Carter Hart is a mess. And I think it really started to get bad in Tahoe. That game really messed with his head and they haven't been able to reset him. He is off his lines, playing with no confidence in himself. All that was mentioned on that ESPN article about his issues was plainly evident last night once we all knew what to look for. And if we can see it, you can be sure opposing NHL coaches and players can see it too.

The mental mistakes this team makes game in and game out are maddening. They don't trust themselves or each other on the ice.

This falls squarely on the leadership group to get themselves right in the head.

Is iron Mike still coaching? This team needs someone like that to beat the poop out of them in practice. They don’t fear loosing anymore.

Yes and no....they need an upgrade on the back end for sure. They could use a few more players who can physically make the Flyers tough to play against. Right now it’s just to easy to play the Flyers...a nice place to come and pad your stats if your a skilled guy.

Yes, I agree, that is why I liked what Morin did last night, at least he hit people. And though I know many folks did not like that fight at the end of the game, but I thought it was critical and in some way maybe a slap in the face of the leadership on this team, that a player who comes up from the minors playing this first game on D sets the tone for the rest of the team.

But don't you think they also need another sniper or two? I think Farabee has surely demonstrated the skill to finish plays, but who else has demonstrated that consistently this year? Maybe Lindblom gets more confidence and shoots the puck more, but we have too many pass-first forwards on this team, we need better balance.

Carter Hart played well last night, I mean what do you want him to do about any of those goals. Maybe the 3rd goal I would have liked him to be bigger in the net and be able to stop that deflection, but other than that, it was a freak'n shooting gallery against him last night! I think if the Flyers actually cared about playing defense instead of felling sorry for themselves that they gave up a goal, Hart would be fine.

I agree that Morin played well and added a physical element. But what did that really change? Not much. Goal scoring is not the teams issue although the PP could be better and a goal scorer could help there. By far the biggest issue is the team defense and attention to detail. Fix that and this is a good team.

They also need to acquire a forward who actually has the skill to finish a play and has that shoot-first mentality. They have Farabee but he is not enough, they need more Farabees. The make-up of their forward group is completely off. I know the defense is bad, but when the other team does not fear you scoring against them, that enables them to take more offensive risks and score goals. If the Flyers buried more of their chances, these games would be very different IMO, because for one the Flyers would not spiral down so quickly once they give up a goal because they know they have the players to get that goal right back.

They will be a better team if they fix their defense, but the PP is what elevates a team to contender status, and the Flyers need more shoot first forwards on the PP. That is why BTW I believe Fletcher should be looking for another top 6 winger.

So they've just completely tuned out the coaches at this point. I think the Flyers have to get a new goalie coach in there ASAP - the Flyers are ruining Carter Hart. Team defense and their penalty kill are very bad. The wingers are always either too late back or they collapse way too low leaving the top of the zone with way too much time to make plays (even when ES). On the PK - they keep doing this stupid rotating diamond formation where each forward gets lost in the sauce if the PP team can move the puck quickly. Sanheim, Provorov, and Myers all look overwhelmed. TK has zero defense and I have a feeling takes his cues from Voracek. Thank god the Flyers were patient with NoPa. It's really paid off (sarcasm). The Flyers could really use some jam and speed in the bottom six - letting Pitlick walk was a mistake IMO (although cap issues). Hayes needs to have a sit down with Bobby Clarke and learn how to bear the F down. He's so soft for a player of his size. Flyers should try and package Ghost and Voracek with perhaps picks and retaining part of Voracek's salary to get back a top 4 defenseman. Not sure the Predators trade block defenseman can fit under the Flyers cap.
