Looking forward to seeing Big Sam in his natural position. Hopefully he plays well. Just need a "decent" performance from him.

Problem with having both Gus and Ghost in same line-up is that can get paired together after penalty kills. I think I even saw Ghost on the ice during a PK. If we stay out of the box, it's not an issue. Unfortunately...

We have to start playing the right way. I don't mind losses and wouldn't be as upset if we sat outside playoff spot but playing well. But we are just horrible right now.

I think we need to sacrifice a live chicken.

From what I see at Flyers skate. Sure looks like Samuel Morin will get his shot on defense tonight:

van Riemsdyk-Couturier-Farabee
Giroux-Hayes-Konecny
Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek
Raffl-Laughton-Aube-Kubel

Provorov-Braun
Sanheim-Myers
Gostisbehere-Morin
Gustafsson-Prosser

- wcorvette

Great .. its about time, the team needs more of a physical edge and maybe Morin can help on the penalty kill.

Holmgren went for the home run, he struck out flailing at an 0-2 pitch in the dirt.

And people wonder why this franchise is currently an NHL bottom feeder. Losing two games over the course of a 5 day period 15-1 are things expansion teams don't do.

- PLindbergh31

"Bottom feeder": Flyers have the 18th best record in the league still, despite an atrocious month of March. Want to say bubble team? Sure. Bottom feeder is your on-brand hyperbole and 24/7 Pavel-dom.

The Buffalo Sabres are a bottom feeder. The Detroit Red Wings, since they aged out of contention and had little in the system to replace it with, became a bottom feeder. The Ottawa Senators are a bottom feeder.

The Flyers are an underachieving club that came in with high expectations, seem to still be a bubble-team level club and are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. But not a bottom feeder or even close.

If Tanner L and W Allison can stay healthy and continue to play well I think you could trade them if it was a good return

1. if the Flyers are out of it, trade and get good value, unless Laughton gives you a sweetheart deal
2. If Allison and Tanner blow the doors off trade them for really good value

- wcorvette

As Fletcher stated, no one is ringing him about this players, and I have to think part of the reason is his players are not that good!

Wrong. But thanks for participating, Pavel.

Lets see.... Morin was drafted in 2013, his first knee injury was in 2018. What did Morin do at the NHL level prior to his first knee injury that indicated he could play?

Laughton should get them a 2

he plays well and you find a team who needs him to contend, you might get more.

I guess you have a different definition of bottom feeder than I do. Going on the better part of a decade, and they have won one playoff series. To me that is absurd incompetence. But hey if you want to compare the Flyers to the Red Wings and Senators then I guess they're "winners"

(frank)in right! Now that’s a bold decision by the coach to offer an opportunity to a young player that brings something that is very much missing from the line up. Physical play. Personally I would have made the move much sooner, but better late than never. My only concern is his defense partner. Is Ghost the right guy to play with.

I've been wrong on everything I've posted. No doubt. Everyone who has defended everything the Flyers do are the ones who have been proved to be correct. Can't argue with the on ice results.

I agree, except he needed reps with all the time missed. Covid and the crazy schedule and no camp really hit the Flyers. You think of Patrick, Lindblom and Morin. You can go Tanner L and Allison. I am sure other teams have faced similar situations but the Flyers have had more than their fair share. That said, it also showed how not deep the Flyers are right now.

He was NHL ready by 2017-18; pro year 3. Had a very strong camp and preseason. But there were already two rookie D in the Flyers lineup and they preferred Sam play in AHL until there was an NHL opportunity open.

That opportunity was there by early November 2017. Morin was playing well in LV. The Flyers were banged up on D and a decision was made to give Morin a run in the NHL despite Sanheim and (fourth-year pro) Hägg also being there.

Unfortunately, the day after his recall, Morin had to be shut down. A psoas muscle tear was discovered. He was shut down until after Thanksgiving. With Morin out, the Flyers ended up with Manning, Alt and Will O'Neill (lone NHL game) all in the same lineup for a game in St. Louis -- the Blues were undefeated at home at that point --- but the Flyers still somehow managed to win the game.

When he was cleared, Morin returned to the Phantoms lineup. Had to leave his 2nd game. Related core muscle issues were discovered. Shut down til after Christmas.

Returned in January 2018. Reaggravated the issue during the outdoor game against Hershey. Shut down the rest of the regular season.

Returned in the Calder Cup playoffs. Tore his ACL in the first period of the five-OT game.

well i mean, he has been in the lineup. but at wing and with really limited ice time.

glad that experiment is over, and he should have been played at D over someone like prosser.

so you are thinking Laughton has no value? or doesn't have good value?
- wcorvette

I like Laughton and long term I think he is player I would like to keep. I don't get he impression from Fletcher that he wants to sell at the deadline, however if the team continues to spiral over the next two weeks I don't think he'll have a choice. I mean if Fletcher can sell Laughton for a good pick and then resign him in the off season, why not do it? I think from what I read Fletcher would prefer to be a buyer at the deadline and he hopes that the trend of the Flyers play over the past two games continues, but even then it takes two teams to make a trade, and since the Flyers do not have an abundance of cap space, anyone they trade with would have to take salary back which they don't want to do. It just sucks right now.

It’s almost as if flyer fans just take every dman who is over 6.5 and assume they are slow. They used to say the same about Bundy and he was a good skater. Then Coburn. Who also was a very good skater. I’m not saying Morin skates like Myers, but his north speed is not bad. Skating is not his issue. Guy just needs to play and stay healthy. He was and is plenty talented.

What he does bring more than anything else is heart and attitude. Two things this team desperately needs more of.

I like it a lot. The asking price for Lowry was insane. Thybulle, Maxey, and 2 firsts? Yeah no thanks.

Based on everything we have seen from him this year, the answer is a resounding no, he is not the right partner for Provorov, but what other choice does AV have?

Bradley is a good young center who has played very well recently. Will be a solid rotation piece. They now need a big only howard left really.

Agree 100%, this team needs more physicality, especially in the slot on the PK, and Morin has the size and reach to be an effective penalty killer. Also, he played forward so his skating can't be that bad.

My issue isn't with Morin the person/player. I'm sure he's a fine young man, and has a great work ethic. I feel for the kid suffering two serious knee injuries that have set him back.

My issue was with the draft selection. And was at the time of the draft. Not Monday Morning QB.
