The game is at 1:00 this afternoon. - MJL
It's not like Bill doesn't put this info in his blog. It's in his very first paragraph for today's edition (as in most of his gameday blogs).
So while I'm not so sure this MRK character is a pen troll as PWO theorizes, I'm pretty sure he ain't a dedicated fan if he ain't reading the blog. And if he is, he certainly ain't grokking it. |

I appreciate the optimism but missing the playoffs could be a blessing in disguise. Making it only gives management the idea that only minor tweaks need to be made.
Don't get me wrong, I don't WANT them to miss. In a perfect world they'd have gone 56-0-0 but this team needs drastic changes. |

It would be very entertaining if they miss. Beyond entertaining. Absolutely no signs they will turn this around. Will be nothing but fools gold if they do. I am sure the "die hard" fans will lap it up though if they sneak in the playoffs.

Not a huge fan of Hayes or Konecny on the PP. Rather see Giroux, Coots, Farabee, Voracek and Provorov on PP
Im mostly fine with Patricks play, hes been buzzing. I know he had a bad +/- game last game but I think he's trending up.
This team really needs a game where everything just goes right to get the confidence up. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
You need to have balance. You need to have two good PP units and not just load up for one. I also wouldn't have Provorov on the PP at all. On this team currently, Gostisbehere on one unit and Gustafsson on the other.

I think anyone expecting wholesale changes whether they make the playoffs or not is going to disappointed.

Yeah he really should know what time the game is at, shouldn't he?! 😂
I hate malkin. But he's dirty enough and so skilled that I'd love him in orange and black though. Like what happened with jagr.!
Jagr looked so much better in orange and black though, didn't he?! With that long flowing mane of his flying in the air behind him as he skates. I 2osh they would have brought him back for another season or two but management screwed it up with stalling on his contract
All of the other fans normally shoe up to talk crap but I think even they feel bad for us this year with the goals we are hemmoraging. We are two easy points for everybody right now. - Bob Habib True, I've often said to Flyers fans dismay that there would already be a statue up for Crosby if he was wearing a Flyers jersey. I mean, he has 3 Cups and works his ass off every game versus some of the folks wearing orange and black these days. I hate the Pens, but you have to respect what their star players have accomplished. Anyone remember that fateful day when Lavy called Giroux the best player in the world back in 2012? |

Do you recall the Public Service Announcements about those EVIL Canadians bashing in the heads of baby Harp seals?
It was horrendous to consider.....
Every year they would go out to the shorelines and slaughter those little cute pups and sell their white pelts for salt tack or whatever and then returned to their caves to drink beer and debauch.
Dreadful and mean spirited times......depressing.
Or the Italian-American Indian imposter crying about garbage on the side of the roads.
Terrible.
Well, the Flyers are on the side of the road and skinned.
Doubly distressing. |

And then lavy got fired and this team sucked for almost a decade!! I remember it very well, unfortunately.
And I hate crosby but my God is he talented. I'll never forget the video of him shooting pucks at a stacked pyramid of pucks by the bench. His aim was incredible and one pick tried to roll away but he hit it as it was rolling away.
Every fan base wishes they had a crosby though. And a malkin. But hey... We have a giroux and a jake!
....go flyers |

Bring up Tanner and Zade at once, and sit Patrick and Jakey(the -4 twins the last game)! Please!! - Phillywhiteout
I gotta tell ya, I don't think they should. The LHV is having a very good season and the Flyers suck. Why ruin the kids? The Flyers are going nowhere. Let them continue to build confidence and develop that killer winning attitude that will be desperately needed for a successful next season. It seems counterintuitive, I know, but why put good players into a dumpster fire? |

Fellow hockey and Flyers fans. I'd like to wax philosophic for a few moments. We've been posting reasons for our favorite team's fall from grace for a long time and I believe the answer is really in front of us. We have a true crisis in confidence. The players amongst themselves, the players with management (and vice versa) the goaltender with the defense (and vice versa) and of course the fans with the team overall. The season started with success in the standings but anyone who watches as much as we do knew there was trouble brewing. This team has no superstar player(s) on O, D, or in goal. I will admit to being a G fan, and to a lesser extent a Voracek fan. They still have something in the tank, but not enough to carry us. These are all talented and proud players trying just too hard. Hart didn't just lose his talent, he has literally zero confidence. The future is bright, lol at what's in Lehigh Valley and the college ranks. They have plenty of depth coming up. Its not AVs fault...its not time to move away from this coach. If they can trade a piece like Patrick for an Ekholm I'd do it...There are no untouchables on this team except for maybe Coots. Other than that we have to take our lumps and ride this out...better things await! |

I think there is some confusion here or maybe my memory is bad. Last season, before they paused, the Flyers were playing extremely well. This season earlier in the year when they had a strong record was when they were outscoring their deficiencies. - MJL
Agree there, I was referencing bills blog for this season before the Covid pause. At least that’s how I read it lol |

I'm with you for about 90% of it. I would not trade for Ekholm at the trade deadline. While I think it's certainly not the time to fire AV, he certainly has to be held accountable for his share here. This team is not well coached. The coaches have not fixed season long issues. While the players deserve the overwhelming majority of blame, the coaches have their share also.

Guilty. I meant in terms of the fact they have players that actually stick up for one another, play with speed, and play the game with an attitude. Are the Flames the Isles, Caps, Golden Knights, or TB? No, certainly not. But they sure as f*ck a lot more fun to watch than the Flyers as currently constructed. - BroadSTmayhem
LOL yea some of the better teams for sure do have that mix of toughness. The flyers players seem to have no interest turning this thing around , pretty sad. I don’t want to hear the post game comments anymore, show us that you care because right now it’s absolutely pathetic. Every guy on this team should be ashamed of themselves |

This team really hasn't played well since they restarted after the shutdown last year. They won the exhibition round robin games and that's been it. Hart got them through the series against the Habs, and the Isles out skated them and out hit them. You make the playoffs to have your weaknesses exposed(lack of physicality and speed) and yet Chucky apparently learned nothing from that. Maybe I'm a first class bozo and I'm simplifying things too much, but I think the problem lies in this brutal schedule. What I mean is that all teams are being taxed and the slower less physical teams are being exposed even more than usual. Perhaps this is bunk. - Phillywhiteout
Go back further... like 10 years. This team has not been consistent for any meaningful amount of time since the cup run. They have struggled to find an identity, and heart. They've had zero passion.
I am a long time fan. Watched both cups in the 70's on my Black and White in my bedroom as a kid. Season ticket holder all through the 80's (moved in early 90's). Saw Pelle's last game, I've seen and endured much as a fan, but I am starting to not give a poop for the 1st time in my life... (A recovering Stepford?)
Sniders ran it like they loved it. Gave the city something to love, and a reason to be proud. Comcast? They just need to beat last Quarterly numbers, so as long as the fans are going, not much matters. That attitude moves down onto the players and it shows every day. They play for money, not love of the game. They are heartless, gutless, p()ssies, plain and simple. Those are not ingredients to succeed at anything, let alone Hockey... Now if we could just find a writer with clout to present our case...hmmm. |

Whether it's a core piece or an over-coveted young player.

Wait... you think someone will give us something for Patrick? I promise you any effort you see, any success he has, is driven by the need for a long term contract. It's only a flash. He was soft to start, he will drop value faster than Jake did after the ink is dry...
NO GM with 1/2 a brain will sign. (or let alone) trade for him... |

If were talking just in this upcoming offseason
Hope one of either Jake or JVR is gone.
Take good hard looks at Myers and Sanheim and see if this is just an anomaly or is this a trend in the wrong direction. If the latter, make a move. I'm sure teams would make good offers. Especially for a 6'5 RH shot in Myers.
Dertimine what you have in Patrick. Do you think his offense will come? If not, again, make a move. Big bodied righty centerman can fetch you something.
Maybe look at TK too.
I doubt 90% of what I wrote will come to fruition. I just feel it's time to take a deep hard look at what you have.

Resident pens troll accounted for. Got a good chuckle out of that. It’s odd. People either thought he was better than Crosby, or an overrated bum. Not too many measured approaches to him from the great xfinity live unwashed.
