I wonder if the Blues wouldn’t part with Hoffman?

If they nose dive the next couple of weeks I guess it’s possible but I doubt it. |

Yep. If it were that easy of a sale and no brainer for the Devils and Bruins it would’ve happened already though. If the Bruins are buyers they wouldn’t be waiting to make moves they’re not exactly in the best spot. Not saying the bruins aren’t making a play for Palmieri I’m saying there’s something delaying it if they are. It’s not a slam dunk.
Also, not so sure how much Palmieri wanting to go to the bruins even if that we’re the case is going to play into the Devils decision on who to trade him too. You can also say he’s from smithtown. Haha. He’ll go to whomever the Devils can get the best deal from barring NTC or NMC of course... - Cptmjl
Or The Devils sign him. There’s time so why would Fitzgerald not wait until he’s closer to the deadline where there maybe more interest or even more teams looking to add because of their position at that time. Obviously Lou wants help quick but not willing to part what NJ is asking for currently. I think a lot of deals are being put on hold because of the parity in the divisions and teams being on the cusp of the POs imo.
Also with Halls reputation, he may only grab a 2nd rounder with a prospect versus a 1st. Would you take him for A 2nd and say Bellows or ? |

They’re beginning to dive now, and Hoffman has been a healthy scratch.
What’s more, their next 6 games are against Colorado, Vegas and Minnesota. |

Most point to the Blues trying to add for the run with Hall and Palmieri being targets.
Just don’t know what is going to happen. |

He’d probably be cheaper to get than Garland he’s more established and there wouldn’t be any pressure to resign him but, yeah, don’t see the Blues trading unless their losing streak gets really bad. |

I have to imagine that Garland would cost a fortune. Not only is ARI right on the playoff bubble but he's probably their best player and they are severely hurting for draft picks. I think he'd cost quite a bit. |

I think they start selling if they lose their next 4. |

And yet, he’s reportedly on the table. 🤷♂️
I’d pony up a 1st for him, especially with this draft and the Islanders likely pick position. |

It's an absurd long-shot, but paying a hefty ransom for a combo pack of Palmieri and Wood is an interesting thought to me. That would balance the hell out of the line up through all four lines and cut some dead weight. |

I'm sure they'll move him if they get a big-time price tag for him...but I dunno, that one just feels unlikely to me |

Maybe right.
Some speculation is they want Hall and are trying to free up room by trading Hoffman. This to me makes no sense as Hoffman hasn’t produced like the Blue’s thought when signing him last year at 4 million for the year, but Hall’s been much worse.
Some are saying that it was a wake up call for Hoffman as he hasn’t scored in his past 5 games. Who knows. |

A long shot yes, but it’d definitely fix what ails the Isles. |

I like the idea, he’s an intriguing player but if you give up a 1st, plus...then the pressure to resign him is huge and probably at the cost of a guy already on the roster. |

Perhaps. But he’s an RFA, so his leverage is limited. Plus he makes only 750,000 per, so giving him a “sizeable” raise wouldn’t be unbearable. |

I mean they got a 1st and a pretty good prospect for Blake Coleman (who also had one year left on his deal at the time) from Tampa, so for Wood alone I'd imagine something more or less around that (probably a little less).
Taking a stab in the dark here: 2022 1st, 2021 2nd, Bellows or Holmstrom, and Komarov to even out the cap issues next year for Palmieri/Wood |

Don’t think they take on Komarov, that said if they are looking to move Wood and Palmieri then they would certainly address a couple holes we have currently in the top 3 lines. Tough to think they want to lose both guys but if they do I’m down. |

The Isles would have to have something give on salary for next year. Entirely possible, if not probable, that they don't want to move Wood at all and won't eat any salary at all...which is why I think my idea is a longshot. The 2022 1st rounder would be significantly more attractive than this year's to any team, so I was hoping that would be enough of an add to facilitate some flexibility.
Not holding out hope for it, but it would be a hell of a facelift for this team. |

100%, that’s exactly what Lou and Co are doing now. Hitting the phones and offering and asking what it will take to fill the holes we have. Exactly what you did by saying hey what if?
They did a great job last year obviously and I’m hoping they can find the right partner/partners to dance with and make it happen. |
