Ghost has been better defensively than the past few seasons, some nights he was our best but his salary and the imminent need for change for this team leave him on waivers. Compared to Gustafsson (and no team needs both he and Gus in the same lineup) Ghost is by far the better on "D" Honestly think Ghost in the proper situation can be quite good but he needs a solid D man to back him up as a D partner - something Philly didnt have the last 3 years.

Sure he has. Which is why he's on waivers. He's been a solid player.

It's a flat cap era. Teams are not willing to take on term. We're going to see moves like this more frequently as teams look to find ways to create space. Sometimes it's not about the quality of the player but about the mix of players. Waiving players is not what is used to be.

Gustafsson is on a one year deal and he is tradeable. Won't get much but because he is on an expiring contract, he is moveable.

I've previously thought Ghost could benefit from getting a fresh start with a new team. But given his age I'm not sure his ceiling will be any higher. I think he's been a convenient scapegoat for the Flyers. But he's also disappointed given his strong rookie season. Perhaps the expectations were unfair?

He's not the player he was when he first came up. However he still is a good puck mover, good PP point man and a strong defender against the rush and at the blueline. Weaker down low and in the corners. Certainly with a player who is not a defensive stalwart overall, the lower point totals lower his value.

Glad to see the Wings brought their best road game with them.
