I've been reading up on this Issak Phillips kid. He was born on Sept. 28, 2001, just a couple of weeks after 9/11. That seems like yesterday to me. Guess it happens when you get old.

I don't know, he intrigues me because he's so quick with his stick and eye hand coordination, did that come later in his career? His hockey IQ is impressive. I always marvel at players who know where the puck is before it gets there. I think Hagel actually has a really good chance to be a top 6 forward. Like you said him and Kubs are playing without a top 6 center and making an impact.

Once Hagel was paired with Kubs before Dach came back Hagel had 10 points in 15 games

- BetweenTheDots

Don't get me wrong. I like Hagel A LOT!. However when he first came up I think he was mainly focused on playing with energy, disrupting with his aggressive forecheck and playing physical. But we are seeing him become more of an offensive threat. I believe he does have a lot more offensive skills than he has shown. He like Kubalik, would benefit from having a better center. I would really like to see him spend a summer with Kane's Summer Camp. I could see him developing into a 20 goal 50 point player in the NHL. He scored 19 goals in 59 games at the Rock.

I thought having a NMC makes you exempt from being exposed. A NTC doesn't fit the bill.

He has a M-NTC, sorry should of said both

Old or not we all probably remember that day and what we were doing like it was yesterday.

He needs to work on his shot, it's pretty weak at the moment

I thought he was just a shot, he's proving me wrong, trying to be a better 200 foot player, friendly contract, no way, he's looking like a top 6 player

40% of 1st round picks make up the league, how many are a top 6 forward, i bet that number drops significantly

- BetweenTheDots

I've seen this from a few posters, but I'm curious why. I'll admit he was normally paired with very good defensive players (Saad, Toews, Kampf), but he was always part of lines that were very good at shutting other teams down (and often their top lines). He does look better/more effective on the walls this year.

While he does look a bit more engaged over 200' this year, I would say his largest growth area is as a playmaker. He's had several really nice assists this year.

Delia gets the start tonight. Colliton quoted as saying that Lankinen is a bit dinged up and it's time to get him into a game.

De Haan stays!

That's a prediction, not a personal desire.

I actually could see deHaan going back to Carolina...

Well it is better than any of ours, and it is clear he is highly advance anticipatioknand quickness in small areas to keep things going...

If someone wants Kubalik for a first, do you trade him?
- hpk90

No, give him a center with some offensive skills and the Hawks GPG will go up. I like Kampf as he can shut down opposing centers, but he can’t manufacture offense. Kubalik is playing a 200’ game, we need more Kubalik’s not less. We need Dach between Hagel and Kubalik, maybe Strome with Janmark and Kurashev.

Hawks need a center that can win face-offs. Our fancy stats 5 x 5 is horrible because we almost always start the shift chasing the puck because we lose the face-off.

Say what you will about the rest of his game, but Kampf is one of the few guys on the roster that can actually win a faceoff regularly.

Just another one of #19's under appreciated little skills so noticeably missing now.

I hope you are right. But I just don't see it. If Bowman can move him before the start of next season without having to throw in a sweetener, he will have done well.

Thank you Theo for all you do for us BlackHawk fans. My question is are there any trade rumors that we need to know!
- Sn1362

You're welcome, Sn.

I haven't seen any Blackhawks rumors so far but will share if I see anything.

Thanks Theo. Nice to have those "Get to know...." videos of players.
Yes, please share any trade talk you are hearing.

- powerenforcer

You bet, PE.

There are a few other of those "Get to Know You" videos of Rockford players. I will post them in a few of the upcoming blogs.

On any "trade bait" list by Freidman, Dreger, etc., the only marketable commodity the hawks have is the cap space. We will be lucky to get a third rounder for anything else we have to offer.
- LAHawk

That's what I've read, too, over the past few weeks about the Hawks activity during the TDL. Being a broker for cap space amongst teams is a good strategy.

Yet, I haven't seen any rumors of any trades that include Chicago in this manner. Hopefully that picks up. Any return should be highly desirable futures.

Thank you, Theo.
It was cool to see the videos of the young Mr Phillips. Great demeanor he has, just like almost all the pros, he loves the game.

- 35Tony0

You're welcome, Tony.

Yes, Phillips has a great head on his shoulders and is always grinning ear to ear in interviews.

If hawks entertain trading Kubalik, which i don't think they will, i think a young controllable prospect with a physical edge and speed to his game be a better return instead if a pick imo.

"The problem of course is Holtby’s performance, which has been downright dreadful at times this season and last."

"If the Canucks do hold onto Holtby, there isn’t a ton of room for Hughes and Pettersson. The team has several defensive holes to fix in the summer and a forward group that has already had trouble scoring at times."

https://www.prohockeyrumo...-five-year-extension.html

Stan can solve all these issues for Vancouver by taking two bad contracts off their hands, totalling about $9M.

- mohel

Good idea but what is the return from Vancouver don't think they give a 1st maybe next year's 1st a 3rd this year and prospect fill in the blank and subban goes back in the deal.

Lines imo that might make the most sense:
Dcat dach kane
Kubalik strome hagel
Janmark suter kurashev
Carpenter kampf Soderbergh
Now suter and strome could flip flop but need to get strome going to up whatever trade value he has and is 4th line depth player that is good pk and board player but very limited offensively.
