Hes not a particularly high risk player like Ovi, so barring any freak injury, I dont see why he couldnt. - aecliptic
I literally only remember him being hit one time this season in any meaningful way. He is very elusive. |

I think that coach they had n Buffalo was arguably the worst coach ever
they've played a lot better since coaching change
Dahlin looks like new man - jimbro83
Maybe that's why Hall chose Buffalo? You chose Kruger, you don't have to play defense!! |

probably
I still dont know they fired Housley, he was the perfect coach for Dahlin

Could BUF be a team that would trade out of the #1 or #2 pick? They need to start winning and I’m not sure a top pick benefits them more than trading it for an absolute HALL. |

with this draft I think anything is possible
I love that we have their 3rd rounder for Vesey though
first pick of that round for a guy on waivers

How does Eichel Dahlin Skinner and Hall have a combined 9 goals for the year!! Add in Okoposo and it’s 11 goals from 5 of their top players combined! - nyrangers9479
Because just slapping together talent does not automatically yield success in the NHL. Add in poor coaching and poor organizational support, you get low moral and a recipe for failure.
Welcome to the suck hole that is Buffalo. |

I think if they’re serious about being a contender in the next 1-2 years they trade the pick. If they’re happy with having 9 years with a top 9 pick and having that continue they keep the pick. Eichel being hurt is a killer for them bc they’ll never get the value they would’ve especially with the type of injury he has. |

NYR should be trading away its' 1st round pick, and a package of prospects for a 2way center. I don't know who is available, or who the NYR would/should offer, but IMO that is the route that will be taken this offseason.

I agree, only way I keep the pick is if we could trade up to grab Berniers or Cole Sillinger is still there when we pick. |

They need to trade Eichel, not to us but to some other team willing to give up serviceable NHL players. Use the additional cap savings to get some other guys. Get another decent goalie and re-sign Ullmark. They need to try and build their team like Columbus and just be hard to play against and good defensively.

Another area the NHL could clean up their practices:
McDavid’s salary (before endorsements) is $14 million this season. Fining him $5,000 is equivalent to fining the average full-time employed Canadian $19.51.
- from a Sportsnet.ca article
The "maximum allowable fine" is a ridiculous idea. The punishment shall fit 2% of the crime! |

I saw people bring up Lindholm out of Calgary, and obviously that won’t happen, but but what about Monahan?
They are speculating big changes this off-season, and he is having an off season. He would truly make this team a matchup nightmare. |

Monahan has size and is an improvement for the Rangers in the face off dot. However, the complaint on him is that he is soft defensively and his production is down. Why would we pay $2 mill more in cap and not really upgrade much over Strome?
I think there may be better options... |

I've got one!
How about we stop complaining about our fully serviceable 2C and just enjoy the 90+% complete team we have??
As these guys grow together over the next year or two, we are going to have one of the most bulletproof rosters in the league!
Opportunities to improve? Without a doubt. But, I hope management doesn't share the fanbase's need to make some sort of home run swing trade that will make us marginally better while simultaneously emptying our now full cupboard.
I feel like we are poised to keep a pipeline of players turning over and feeding into the line up for close to a decade going forward.
(p.s. - not directed at you, Tommy. Just seems like this is the topic for the majority of our discussions on here of late) |

Also I remember his name being brought up before the season in the hopes he’d just had a down year. Does having a second down year in a row make him even worth it? Just in the hopes he gets back to that one PPG season level. |

I remember reading the CGY blogs about how much they hated Monahan after their playoff series. Said he’s not willing to take a hit, soft, doesn’t have that extra level needed for the playoffs. Definitely not the guy I’d be looking to add. Not sure id want lindholm either when we already have Strome. I’d be looking more for a younger C that’s on an ELC or RFA that we could start at the 3C and move into a 2C role in the future. We talk about everyone else’s players but we might already have what we’re looking for in Barron. |

Exactly. Why would we take a risk on a player who costs almost $2M more and has other deficiencies than Strome, just because he is 4.4% better on faceoffs? |

The grass is greener effect. Too often we think an alternative is automatically better. Strome is playing well. Better than last year. Is he a complete center, no. But why trade for another incomplete center.
I agree, the "upgrade" would have to make sense to toss assets in a trade and then pay that person market value. There is no sense in lateral moves for this team. It has to be a clear upgrade or it's just taking away from the rebuild.

saw this on the Athletic's "who says no" trade proposal thing
Rasmus Kupari, Tobias Bjornfot and a 2022 first-round pick to the New York Rangers for K’Andre Miller
Who says no?: The Kings
It is an overpay – three pieces for one, and not only three pieces but three first-round pieces. Kupari went in the first round in 2018 (No. 20) and Bjornfot in 2019 (No. 22) as part of the Jake Muzzin deal. |
