Rangers fanbase is ok with a lot of things to get Kupari… are the Kings ok with it?
- aecliptic

I want to preface this by stating I'm not taking a side one way or the other in this proposal (my guess is as good as anybody else's with respect to if LA would want Buch).

Buch is a top 10 RW in the NHL based on points right now (currently 6th). He's young, plays a 200 foot game, has turned into a very strong PK'er, and is key part of the Ranger's locker room.

If Buch is not worth a good prospect, then who is...?

Is he worth it, maybe. Question is does he fit with what LA is looking for?

Yeah, I mean they need wingers. Buch is a great winger, no?

Point is moot, I'm of the belief that Buch will be here next season.

We should do whatever we can (with the exception of trading K'Andre) to get Kupari. The main reason is because we would finally have our own Rasmus and Sam would lose his mind

This is the best rationale I have seen on this site. Image when we played the Sabres. “There are currently 4 Rasmus’ on the ice!”.

To simply everything Ive said. The main thing I want is a replacement for Chytil. I want someone whos got the developing skills to play the PP2. Someone that can play both ends of the ice, doesnt have to be the best but someone sturdy good on faceoffs. Who will eventually be a successor to Strome.

Everyone doesnt need to be the best C, but we need someone reliable who can play in multiple situations.

I think Kupari (or a similar player of his ilk) would be a great addition. Nils, Key, Kakko and Laf would be my untouchables. We have the players outside of those guys to make it happen.

I mean, they can’t start 6 centers every game, something has to give. They need wingers and defenseman, we need a center.

It will be an interesting comparison in future years. Was the "LA model" of going deep down the middle or the "NYR model" of drafting D and wings the right way to go about a rebuild? Ignoring variables, but a good comparison nonetheless.

I'm high on our D prospects, but the one advantage is it's far easier for a C to transition to a wing than a wing to transition to a C. Not a bad position for either team to be in really though I'm just glad it appears that we're starting to hit on some of our draft picks after the early 2000's left a lot to be desired.

I think top defenseman is worth a bit more than a top center simply because of TOI.
Looking at our Rangers roster, Mika plays just over 20 mins a game as our top forward. However, Fox plays almost 25 mins a game. That 4+ mins every game to me, makes Fox slightly more valuable. He has more opportunities every game to have an impact. Just my two cents...

Wow, i guess as a Ranger fan I shouldn’t be surprised but the instant reaction to these lines is pretty funny actually. Does it say somewhere that Kravtsov and Kakko are going to permanently play bottom 6 roles for the duration of their careers? Did I miss something? DQ spoke to KK, he explained to the press why he is doing it and can’t people at least understand why he trying this alignment? I actually think it’s a feather KK’s cap bc by playing alongside Chytil and Laf, what Quinn is saying is that KK will bring their levels up bc he is playing so hard and so well. Plus, Chytil and Kakko have played very well together in the past. I don’t see anything wrong with giving this is a look. He can always go back. Isn’t this what Rangers fans want? Don’t they want to see how these guys play with each other? And it’s one game!! Unreal. These are my thoughts and my thoughts only.

I don't disagree at all. I've always been a fan of the "build a team from the goal on outward". Once you have a functional goalie, building out a D-core sets a foundation for the team. Once that's been established, I would look to strengthen up the middle of the ice. I guess that logic gets thrown out the door when guys like Laf and Kakko fall into your lap

Im a big believer in building from the back forward. Look at EDM and TOR as examples, tons of scoring, but they cant keep pucks out of the net. Im happy we did was we did, we are deeeeeep in D, but now we need to fix one more thing and that should be our next emphasis.

I think it’s more of who’s being put there. If he was giving Gauthier/Kravtsov/Laf etc a shot there I don’t think anyone would care. I thinks it more about Blackwell than anything else. You have a 9th overall pick playing in his 2nd NHL game and he’s on the 4th line after he had a good first game. I don’t know any other 1st overall pick (Laf) that gets 8-10 minutes a night.

I understand that but the reaction as if it’s permanent. A stint on the 4th line isn’t going to ruin him. And let’s be honest, if Blackwell is indeed being showcased, and the team wants to maximize their return, then playing him in a top 6 role for now is not a bad thing.

I doubt he gets traded, and what are we upgrading him from? A 4th to a 3rd?

Zac Jones and Adam Fox were both selected in the third. I’ll take a third rounder for Blackwell every day of the week and twice...everyday of the week

I’ll take all the picks we can get.

If we could get another 3rd rounder and then have 3 thirds and 3 fourths on draft day, that’s definitely some currency to mess around with

It only took a 3rd to trade up from 22 to 19 to take Braden Schneider

Playoff race is heating up in the Fantasy league. There is a real fight for those last couple of spots.

On a separate note, I will be in attendance at the Garden tonight for the first time since last March. Really looking forward to just being there and seeing the game live.

Nice, good for you.

I am thinking of trying to attend one of the last two Buffalo games but it's kind of a pain in the ass. I will be getting my second shot that Saturday but it won't be long enough for it to count. Plus I might feel like utter crap according to some people I talked to.
