I hope you're right about the defensive liability part, since he is young in sure we'll see some ups like now and some downs later on especially if he's dinged a lot

What i like about Z he's not looking to smear everyone entering the zone, he does a better job of skating to/with the player but not consistently. Hopefully he gets more consistent with this

Granted, Boqvist is very young and still has time to shore up the weaknesses. But I also feel like "much better defensively" to the eye test is simply less porous.

Defensively, Boqvist is not a top 4 defenseman period. He has enough gifts offensively that it is worth the pain to allow him to learn and improve defensively on the job, painful as that may be to watch. Especially during a playoff run. He was on the ice and in the territory for three goals against last night. That is not a coincidence.

I had to endure Maguire last night. All he wants is to hear his voice. He babbles inanely about nothing for the whole (frank)ing game! He doesn’t even have some good anecdotes it’s all about letting the audience know how “smart he is”. I can’t believe teams were interviewing him for their General Manager positions.

i tune into his games to learn where each player grew up or went to play JR or college or even HS - he is just aweful

Bovquist was on the ice for 2 goals against, the one where he was interfered with, and the one that went off of Keith. To me he is developing into a top 4 offensive defenseman. Does he make mistakes. Sure. But of course this board only thinks the Hawks defenseman make mistakes, all other defenseman are perfect and why can’t the Hawks play perfect defense.

Same with Zadorov. Only defenseman besides Bovquist who currently can complete a pass in stride to a forward. Yes he slows down when skating too the puck, but he either eats the puck along the boards or makes a safe play, can’t remember many instances lately where he blindly gives away the puck or makes a rushed or freaks out making the pass. As far as hits, Zadorov had Necas lined up at the blue line like Hornqvist, but Necas bailed out and dumped the puck right to Murphy.

I still say Dach is a right winger playing Center. Definitely a lot of talent, but more a power forward type. Not a knock, if he became a Blake Wheeler, Cam Neely type, Hawks have a great player. Just don’t think Dach sees the ice well enough to be a #1 center. I hope I am wrong, because center ice s still the Hawks weakness up front.

I see a different Zadorov. I see him complete very few direct passes. He takes way to long to make decisions with the puck and it leads to him flipping a lot of pucks out or wrapping them around the boards.

The Chicago-Rockford shuttle continues. The Hogs have 2 games this weekend versus only one for the Hawks so likely just a way to get the prospects into as many games as possible.

@NHLBlackhawks

ROSTER MOVES: Forwards Brandon Pirri and Mikael Hakkarainen and defenseman Alec Regula were re-assigned to the taxi squad and forwards Reese Johnson and MacKenzie Entwistle and defensemen Nicolas Beaudin, Ian Mitchell and Lucas Carlsson were re-assigned to Rockford.

Why would Regula repeatedly receive this treatment if he is a solid prospect? Would not a different dman whom is not as solid a prospect, make more sense to move back and forth. I realize that one or both Phillips and Moberg were on different type of contracts and of course Franson is signed to a Rockford contract.

Why do we want Hinostroza?
Not because Hagel is on covid protocol?
Is Brad Morrison, whom was traded for Hinostroza, the injured rookie from Notre Dame. The power forward B Morrison? Why the "Frick" trade Morrison? Sure just signed Hardman. Does that signing impact Morrison departure? And what about Chalupa - might his contract be moved (or can it be moved/is Bowman still interested in giving him another year to develop).

Theo please see if you can figure the reasons behind all this

On the negative side, Vinnie has gotten into 9 games for the Panthers this year, and has zero goals, zero assists, zero points, and is -2. So clearly he’ll make an impact on the roster.

On the plus side, he’s undersized and an ex-Blackhawk, so he checks 2 of Stan’s boxes. If he’d been a #1 draft choice, he’d have checked all 3.

The Morrison traded is career minor leaguer Brad, not the power forward Cam who is out for the season.

Hinostroza is a UFA this summer and B Morrison wasn't in the long-term plans for the Hawks anyway. The trade is a wash, IMO.

At least with Hinostroza, the Hawks gain veteran leadership in Rockford and a decent winger to play in Chicago if needed.

After this season, who knows. Not a big loss either if Hinostroza is only here for the next few months. B Morrison was the same way.

Yeah, I'd much rather have Lindholm as the D-man on the carousel than Regula. Let Regula play consistently in Rockford. Don't jerk him around as he has a brighter future with the team. Lindholm doesn't.

I'm pretty sure others mentioned that Suter overskated his coverage of Fast.

He didn't overskate his coverage. Fast made a vet move and gave him a nudge creating space.

Yep...this has almost zero impact on the Hawks, and people are up in arms about it. The way I look at it, he's a lot better option than Highmore!

Yeah, but he was beating Zadorov like a drum along the walls the last series against Florida

Its a nothing move which gives the Hawks a guy with NHL experience for a player who may never sniff the NHL. Maybe JC will play him over board favorite Highmore. Or better yet, over Kampf at 2C.

Just a thought. Maybe, just maybe, the Hawks feel there is value in them practicing with the big club. IMO, the Hawks are playing the long game when it comes to a lot of prospects. Look how many times Kalynuk was moved up and down before getting his chance to play. Would he had performed the same if the opportunity came earlier? We will never know. He sure looks like he can play in this league in these limited games to date.

Also. waivers could play a part in some of these decisions.
