My wife is working from home today. Gentle creature she is to everything except a keyboard. She is a key smasher. I can clearly see how the keyboard on the last Mac got wrecked now. |

How so? Their left side of D is reasonable, with Hughes, OJ, Rathbone... the right side has Woo as the top guy. All things being equal, would rather they pick a RHD to even that out. |

Ruby is clearly against a defender with size, physical and can play all situations. As I alluded to
Van doesn't really need another top end LHD unless he is a big, physical minute munching defender. |

My money is on Boeser. Good thing, now Benning can't trade him either. |

Powers and Hughes fit the bill more. Lambos would be a nice consolation prize but I wouldn't be picking him in the top 10.
Kent Johnson and Dylan Guenther is they somehow fell to 8 or later would be absolute spectacular steals for Van. - manvanfan
Everything I've heard about Lambos is that he is a very good all-around Dman, physical and defensively responsible.
Van has 1 top end LHD, you can always use more, plus you can always play guys on their off side if need be. |

Horvat. Sacrifice a little bit of point production for one of the best faceoff guys in the league. Guy also has more powerplay goals than Mcdavid over the last 2 years. |

Hughes is a defensive nightmare, but a type of defenseman this team needs, Olli has played 15 games in the NHL and has had some good games, but has proven to be a bit weak on the outside turn, Rathbone, has played a whopping 5 professional games and according to some, is an adventure defensively.
Not what I would call reasonable, nor do I think it is bad. Minivan stated the team didn't need more top-end on the left side, unless it was a big minute-muncher, which I agree on, claiming they don't need more top-end of any position, on this team is just wrong. |

Right. Those guys who have played very few professional games versus the guy they're drafting who has played... zero? Can't really use their inexperience as an argument against them when you're comparing them to a guy who also doesn't have experience.
This team, any team really, needs more top-end skill at every position. Like I said, all things being equal (if you're taking between two evenly rated prospects), they need more guys on the right than they do on the left. |

I think Bobby Mac had him at 17th. I think he could turn out to be a player like Josh Morrissey but Morrissey made huge strides defensively in the AHL. Not saying Lambos wouldn't.
If Van was picking in the 11-17 range and someone had not dropped, he would be a great pick for that range. Always BPA in the first round.

3-0 for Horvat. That kind of surprises me a bit, sort of.
Matt Beniers ahead of Kent Johnson in most online rankings but I see Johnson as the better player but he played wing with Beniers at center most of the year.
I still think BPA in the first round and as Judd Brackett said years ago it's just a plus if it aligns with what your team needs the most. |

I think if the differences are very small between a couple prospects, there's an argument to be made for taking a need at position. It's drafting and developing... always hard to gauge where a guy will go after he's drafted, so hopefully you develop him properly.
That really only happens in those 8-11, 11-15, 15-20 groupings of picks though. |

Fair enough.
I would say, if your scouting department is rating players as equals,(especially in the 1st round), then you probably have some serious issues within your scouting department. |

TDL 6 days from now, I wonder how JB's talks with Pearson's agent are going?
Odd's to make playoffs 2.9% today, down from 4% yesterday. |
