I think if the differences are very small between a couple prospects, there's an argument to be made for taking a need at position. It's drafting and developing... always hard to gauge where a guy will go after he's drafted, so hopefully you develop him properly.
That really only happens in those 8-11, 11-15, 15-20 groupings of picks though. - NewYorkNuck
I like this draft because a lot of players seem to be close to each other, the tiers don't look to drop off as much as some years.
If Van could find another 1st in a later group. I doubt trading down will work because the only team with a 2nd first round pick this year is Minny and they are drafting 22 and 23 right now around there.

TDL 6 days from now, I wonder how JB's talks with Pearson's agent are going?
Odd's to make playoffs 2.9% today, down from 4% yesterday. - VanHockeyGuy

The deal is still "evolving" per sources, but is based around...The Islanders sending A First Round Pick, Bellows, Komarov and a possible prospect for Palmieri with the Devils retaining 50% salary...
The Bruins have also discussed sending a first and Bjork as part of a deal...
---------------------
I would take the NYI deal over the Boston. Loser get's Pearson for a 2nd and 4th. |

I would be over joyed for the Toffoli package if we moved Pearson. A 2nd and a decent prospect! Big win for Jim. |

Wtf you talking about, we have had lots of luck at the draft, so much so that we are loaded with too-end talent on the Left side defense. |

Lottery, move up for once instead of down.

I would be over-joyed if we got anything for a Canuck, at this point.(obviously just the expendable ones.) |

That is a pretty high price to pay for the Islanders, IMO - I guess Komorov is a cap dump for 1 year

You sure seem to get hung up on whether Benning makes a call or not Dahliwal...were you pissed that he signed Demko but didn’t come out stuttering and stammering and give you material to b!tch about... |

no not at all, which is sad.
Miller, Benn, Petterson, Boeser, Schmidt, Beagle, LE.
Am I missing anyone else? - Codes1087
LE is still listed on the taxi squad...they haven't identified which two players there are on the protocol
Miller, Boeser, Schmidt & Benn appear to be the only active members of the main squad that are not yet on the list

I think Bobby Mac had him at 17th. I think he could turn out to be a player like Josh Morrissey but Morrissey made huge strides defensively in the AHL. Not saying Lambos wouldn't.
If Van was picking in the 11-17 range and someone had not dropped, he would be a great pick for that range. Always BPA in the first round. - manvanfan
For sure, I'm just assuming Van won't draft top 10 due to whatever BS happens this time around. |

It would be Canuck Luck to get the 1OA pick in this draft without a consensus elite #1 player in it.
Sort of like 2017 where there are a lot of good players but you don't know which ones are going to boom or bust. |

Depending on the prospect. NJ is retaining half too. I would say it's reasonable for a player like Palmieri, NYI would most likely be drafting late in the first round. |

That player might take two years before getting to the NHL as well. Finding a good player can still be easily achieved the process just takes a bit longer. |

Leave it in the hands of the genius Jim Benning.
End of the month the u18s are playing in Texas with a more than usual star studded line ups. Probably 85 out of the top 100 drafted players will be there. |
