Interesting you think Holmstrom is a terrible pick. He was drafted what less then two years ago? I can't pass judgement that quick especially since he is a rookie on the worst team in the AHL - Vukota
He was a terrible pick given who was still on the board. They probably could've taken Holmstrom in the 2nd round if they really loved him that much.
He may develop into a player, maybe even a good one, but not taking Tomasino or McMichael there (at this point in time) was bad. Tomasino is a PPG player in the AHL right now.
Fair point about BPT being terrible but his injury history + lack of production (yes I know he's young and went to the AHL as an 18 year old) I don't think it's unfair to say that it's looking like a subpar pick right now. |

I also think Kravstov was a terrible pick for the same reason
He might still be a good player, but they could've had Wahlstrom or Dobson and they chose a guy they could've traded back for. |

Fair enough but I'll hold off on judgement for a few years

Yeah I didn't say the kid was doomed, just that I think there were better options available. Anyway, no point in debating this one to death. We'll find out what Lou can do in less than a week. |

Sabres will almost certainly have to retain salary regardless of where Hall goes. Very little financial freedom on any contender just now. - Wildschwein
You don't need $8 mill of room to get Hall this year. You only need what's owed him for the remainder of the season which I believe is less then $3 mil. Actually, every game he is still on Buffalo is another $147k of cap you don't need. |

I was hoping they would take the Beecher kid who played for US.. now Michigan. The thing I like about Simon is he was coaches's son and came right over to b-port. seems to have gained a lil weight this year too... I am hopeful that his Upside over time makes him better pick. ... I guess we will find out. |

And yet they say he’ll go for a 1st AND a high end prospect.
Personally, I think he garnishes a 2nd and a 3rd. - Wildschwein
Dump Komarov in Palmieri trade give up our first and then trade a second and a third for Hall so we still have a 2nd for the draft. We now have Hall and Palmieri (frank) everyone. I like it make it happen Lou or you’re the worst GM ever. |

That Sabres thread is hysterical. It always is. Some posters are throwing some insane garbage on there I can’t wait till the trade happens and they all say how happy they are with the 2nd and 4th they get for Hall. That’s after saying they’re getting Wahlstrom and a First, Sorokin and a first, Dobson and a first, or tippet and a first, or some other completely unrealistic return for Hall. Sabres thread in a nutshell. That thread is maybe the dumbest on Hockeybuzz. Neck and neck with the Leafs thread. |
