Why are people so intent on a rebuilding team trading away young prospects with potential?

Because we need to get Kesler!

Interesting take Steve. The problem is that like most professional sports these days, the trend has been towards advanced analytics as opposed to eye test. Unfortunately, sports journalism is going the same way. Both are pandering to a growing majority who grew up on video and computer games and stats as opposed to being out in the park, or the yard actually playing, and perusing the agate and "scoreboard" page for box scores and stats.

Let's please remind people how many World series that Billy Beane won with his moneyball...I'll help you out, ZERO. How many cups have the strictly advanced stats GM's won so far? What came first the chicken or the egg? Is TB good because of advanced stats, or do they have a bunch of good players and depth so their advanced stats look good.

Journalism and radio/tv now is too much about advanced stats and more-so betting. I am tired of both WSCR and ESPN radio, because the shows have become way to mauch about whatever the betting line is.

Is it pandering to the video game generation or is it how teams evaluate players?

I think it's time.

Why are people entertains the thought of trading prospects for a expensive top 6 forward...it's crazy.

You trade away prospects when you are trying to add depth or a player or two to win a cup in which the Hawks are not close. The only other reason to trade a D prospect is to add a young potential top 6 forward prospect. The Hawks are in build mode not cup mode and the GM has been candid about this on several occasions. Also, adding salary can help their cause by adding a prospect to a deal.

Zadorov-Murphy

de Haan-Kalynuk

Lankinen

I still say Strome at wing is a waste of time.

Except, IMO, the Hawks don't need a 3C, with Suter, Kurashev and Barratt in a couple of years filling that slot. Maybe Reichel makes the leap to the NHL in the next year or two and grants my wish for the other 1 or 2C beside Dach.
- boilermaker100

Do any of those centers have size and physicality to thier game and are good on faceoffs. Out of those 3 kurashev is a center suter imo would be better on the wing with his speed and barret is still an unknown most likely a 4th line player or depth forward.

I don't understand why Colliton would split up Hagel and Kubalik!

Drinking game...every time Pat or Edzo say "Hagel won the battle," or something to that affect, take a drink.

If Lankinen can learn where to go with the puck when he stops it behind the net, the Hawks will be much more efficient getting out of their own end.

Hagel is playing like he wants to get back on a higher line. Let's be honest though. This 4th line will likely get more minutes than the 3rd.

Yes, but it should be a 2nd line of Hagel-Dach-Kubalik, IMO.

I sure would rather have Soderberg in front of the net on the PP than Strome or Kurashev.
