This hill you stand on alone is whether or not the Rangers should employ one of THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE. That's not main line thinking, it's (frank)ing common sense. - Bean_Dip
It isn’t a hill he stands on, it’s quicksand haha |

Really the only opinion you spew is Panarin isn’t worth it. It’s dumb take. It’s a stupid take. Therefore you get ripped for said take. He’s a borderline MVP of the league the last two seasons, what other reason do we need to rip your take? - Slimtj100
Don't engage. If he wants to talk about legit topics I am game. I'm not discussing the merits of the Panarin signing anymore. It's a done deal and he might end up being one of the greatest Rangers to ever play when the contract is done. He is certainly showing no signs of slowing down. |

Oh Please, this place is like a sausage fest, circle jerk where everyone wants to be the pivot man., If you dont agree with the mainline thinking you're ripped. - Brukie
Bring opinions to the table about improving the Rangers instead of why someone sucks or that this place is a "circle jerk". I never understood someone bashing a place repeatedly and then keep coming back and then bashes it again. Boredom? Loneliness?
I asked in the other thread, you may not have seen the post. What are you opinions on improving the Rangers? Those opinions I am curious about.
Or go back to fantasizing dudes in a circle jerk online. Either way. |

I only disagree with you based on our current situation. If this was a couple years ago when our cupboard is barren, then by all means you'd be absolutely right in giving him every opportunity. However this is a team that could be contending as soon as next season, and we already have 3 very skilled RWs, it's not like his prospects improve if he tried playing LW either. To me it's an easy decision that he'd be a guy left out, unless you are seriously thinking about trading Buch (or really swinging for the fences and trading Kravstov for a high end center), then there just isn't a realistic shot for him to get better.
Would it suck if he went to another team and became Jaime Benn? Sure it would, but again he would never get the opportunity here and based on our current needs, I'd rather have the ceiling player in Blackwell where I know what I'm getting. - 2sticks1puck
We all need to find a way to come to terms with the FACT that we are going to be trading away some very talented players over the next while. The hope is that the returns are satisfactory for what we are giving up, for the overall future of the organizataion. |

It would be nice if they were future draft picks to start replenishing the system as contracts expire and players leave. |

I'm not going to pretend that what you said isn't important, but we really should put all our chips in the middle of the table soon. Granted, Tampa has maintained their thing for a solid 6-7 years now, but I hope the lessons from 12-15 have shown us that windows slam faster way quicker than expected. So yes, we need to do a better job at this time around of not having zilch in our system, but we gotta win when we are poised to.

I totally get that but I am also a little gunshy about it since the some of the deadline deals have never really worked for the Rangers (outside of the St. Louis deal which I was not at all sure about when it happened).
I know a lot of the offseason trades have produced a lot more down the line. There is an annoying guy that has been doing trade trees on sportsnet and it appears that the Rangers have been fleecing everyone with a number of trades when you consider the trades that happened after the initial deal. |

I am not afraid to make a HUGE deal where we trade multiple players/picks to get us the talented young center that we need.
Cozens, Hayton, Kupari, Norris, Turcotte etc. Lets get one of these guys and finish the rebuild once and for all! |

The problem then is, You have Nils, Schneider, and potentially Jones all moving up. Trouba whether we like it or not is going nowhere. Who is the odd guy out? What if a guy like Hajek or Tarmo starts to impress? I love Lindgren, but there are plenty of scenarios where he is the odd man out. - 2sticks1puck

I’m all for Kupari as well, searched high and low and he’s the best option IMO. Also, Hayton is a good call out, but overall the Coyotes are surprisingly loaded with centers so if it’s not him it could be Schmaltz or Dvorak (both started out hot and have cooled off though). Another option I haven’t seen mentioned would be trading from our deep prospect pool to move up into the top 5 to get a stud center. Obviously he would be further away from competing for a roster spot but we get the advantage of another cost controlled player. |

understand why they went that direction. I would have reached out to Wes Miller to gauge his interest. But Davis checks lots of boxes, but will need a senior staff member with coaching experience to round out the staff. His NBA pedigree helps |

Yea I am hoping him having played 12 years in the NBA and being a UNC guy will help with recruiting. He can sell teaching the kids what it takes to play in the NBA |

That's all well and good. But, we can put together whatever it's gonna take to make that trade 3.5 times over. What I'm advocating for is that we don't lose our minds when someone who COULD capably take a spot on our roster gets moved. And when we do it, bring back top picks and prospects for 3-4 years down the round and let's keep this thing going, as well. |

I think that's a good point. If we acquire one of the names the board is mentioning, it might take a Kravstov or one of our higher end defensive e pieces. If you do that, you better be comfortable in doing it and you better be right about the player you are bringing in.

I think it would be wise to try to keep guys who are on their ELC's or won't be able to bend us over a barrel in arbitration. We have a deep enough prospect pool that we should be able to trade a good prospect and at worst a roster player who could be up for a questionably high contract to obtain another young player hopefully on an ELC or at least signed to a decent deal. With the flat cap the only contract who could prove to be a poor one would be Trouba but at least after next season his buy out won't be so bad. We need to be smart with the cap because if we do we could keep the core of this team together for a long time and hopefully do what the Blackhawks did and win multiple cups during our window.
