Its one thing to think this to yourself ( its a nice sentiment ), but to actually SAY that publicly to a reporter is kind of strange. Devils fans have a right to be upset.

MAYBE if you send them west you can get away with saying this. Gotta get the rivalry back between these 3 teams. I think I hate the Pens, Flyers and Caps more lately. Isles closer but the Devils have been irrelevant to me to 5+ years.

Such a weird deadline.

I imagine that there's an element of teams not wanting to give up anything of value because they don't truly know how they stack up against the league. Mixed in with the flat cap and fewer games these deadline guys will actually play for a team, no less. Definitely a buyers market.

The amazing thing is that's not even a reach. Hell, predicting the Rangers scoring 6+ against these teams isn't far fetched at all. How great is that.

if we were in the position the Islanders are in and traded a late first rounder to add two pieces who can play a lot of minutes in a long playoff run like Palmieri and Zajac, I'd have been thrilled

IDK. Hey, 1st round picks are nice. But, this one is looking to be around #25, and they got 2 career AHLer's along with it. The Isle's get a deeper roster and proven players that make them a tougher out.
I don't see this as a great trade for NJ.
