5:30 am here. Just got back from the hospital.
Wife woke me up at 3 am. She was "on fire" and "super itchy"
She had an allergic reaction to the medication she has been taking for 3 weeks now.
Mother in law showed up yesterday also. She was lifting a patient at work, a 300 lb guy and detached her retina, so she's officially legally blind right now and has to have emergency eye surgery tomorrow. - manvanfan

Sorry to hear that man hopefully the surgery goes well
Partly why im selling higher than what we paid for Schmidt. - manvanfan
I'm not sure selling Schmidt would net a big enough return that it'd be worth it. Sure, you'd get more than what you paid, but the right side of the defense would be very bad. Plus, in the offseason, you'd have to pay to get one top pairing defenseman on top of one second pairing defenseman...
Just got done recapping a set of old Paradigms. A worthwhile and fun little project to bring these back to life. As a result, I'm listening to anything I can get my hands on. Carse is bang on about the production of Empire. It's been in the regular rotation for the last couple of weeks. - Load Management
I went to BestBuy to pickup a soundbar for the TV. The saleskid had some hideous pop crap on. Asked him to put on One and Only from Empire to test it out. After about 10 minutes of trying to find this Oldman music, he loaded it up and cracked it. Soundbar sold!😁
You have a winning way, so keep it
Your future, your future, your future
You are an angel heading for a land of sunshine
And fortune is smiling upon you
Prepare for a series of comfortable miracles
From fasting to feasting, to feasting
And life to you is a dashing, bold adventure
So sing and rejoice, sing and rejoice
And look for the dream that keeps coming back
Your future, your future, your future
Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a handshake
Cause everything is not yet lost
Does life seem worthwhile to you?
Does life seem worthwhile to you?

Yes, hm hm, now for the next question
Does emotional music have quite an effect on you?
Do you feel sometimes that age is against you?
Sing and rejoice
Yeah, sing and rejoice
Yes, hm-hmm, that's interesting, but tell me
Do you often sing or whistle just for fun?
Do you feel sometimes that age is against you?
I
I can help
I can help you
I can help you help yourself

I would sell Schmidt to get someone who is different like David Savard. The money you save from Schmidt's contract. A good chunk of that will go to Savard. He will probably get Tanev type money 4.5x4.
Plus Hamonic re-sign for 2x2M
Hughes Savard
Rathbone Hamonic
OJ Myers
It's not very good, it's not perfect but can it be any worse than what they have right now? at least if they sell Schmidt they can draft another D man and the future might look brighter.

I just don't think you'll be able to upgrade on Schmidt AND save enough money for it to matter. Schmidt is better than Savard, so arguably that D is worse.
I get that you'll recoup something, but I don't think it'd be much.
I'd be more inclined to sweeten Seattle to take Myers. Use that money to sign a better cheaper RHD – Savard or Montour or whoever, or even if a trade is possible for Cernak or whoever.
According to Friedman. He had one guy saying 15m for petey and hughes. Another told him 18m including demko.
That leaves about 8m for 9 players to be signed. As it stands right now with multiply things possible. - manvanfan
Look around the league and find me a team with their best two players making under 15? Off the top of my head, maybe the avs cause mack is on such a bargain contract. All of the best teams in the league have this issue.

Schmidt is just really soft. He has 3 more hits than Hughes does and 52 less than Edler does. Schmidt looked better in Vegas because his partner throws 200 hits a year.
If they went out and traded for McNabb and Gudas they could line up Hughes and Schmidt with them.

And if we don’t believe that our top guys are worth that kind of money are we really confident that this team will be able to compete for a cup in the near future?

Yep. I've pretty much have all copies of it but the best version is the gold DCC CD by Steve Hoffman. Unreal...sounds better than the vinyl the mastering is so good.
Old Paradigms hilarious dude. Hope they sound good. Have Dynaudio C2s here and man they rock but do everything well...I should hope so for the money lol

Schmidt isn't going anywhere. If anything Maybe Seattle will take Myers...

STL 15 M
NYI 14M
WPG 15.3M
MTL 12M
COL 15.5M
CGY 14M
MIN 15M
ARI 15M
PHI 16M
BOS 14M
CLB 11.2M
CAR 14.4M
OTT 13M
DET 11.8M
NJ 12.4M
So half the league two top paid players are around the 15M mark.

If you don't think hughes is one of the best dmen to come off elc in the last 5 years, you're crazy imo. I really don't think abive 6 for him is crazy. If you get long-term 7 is a maybe. Similar for petey, but up a bit because centers get paid more. When is the last time two guys that young averaged above a ppg in the playoffs?! Has it ever happened?! Ive said 6.5 for highes and 7.5 for petey for a bit. I think if you buy UFA years the proce goes up. Hopefully 15 means locking them up for a while.

I get that the Canucks need more muscle on the back end, but I think Schmidt >> Myers, for essentially the same price.
Selling Schmidt is a downgrade for the D even if it opens space to bring someone in, sweetening for Seattle to take Myers is the better option IMO (of course, depending on the cost) as you move the money, keep the better player, and can get a D in UFA.
