It certainly does. It also ticks off the least pressing issue for next season. Looks like Benning likes to start at the bottom of his list of things to do. Very innovative. - Marwood
^this. I would view it differently if the deals with Petey and Hughes were in place.
Pearson is a capable top 6-9 player, but I wouldn’t see him as the highest priority to sign. Haven’t seen the details of the contract yet to comment on overall value.
Agree with the earlier comment about it being a reaction to the greatly reduced opportunity for TDL moves caused by the COVID outbreak on the team, as well as fall out from the off-season departures.
Also agree that JB has demonstrated little-to-no ability to manage out of his contract mistakes. |

Pearson ext year by year. 1) $2.5 million. 2) $3 million. 3) $2.75 million. Signing bonus of of $1.5 million due July 1/2023. Aav of contract $3.25 million.
Contract is more tradeable in the third year after the signing bonus is paid... but it's still not great. |

I was being sarcastic about the Canucks winning the draft lottery as well.
Canucks just have so many question marks and JB isn't really clearing many up very fast. - manvanfan
Oh, is the guy you mentioned supposed to be good? I haven’t been paying attention, so had no idea who that was. |

He is 1 of 3, at U of Michigan, that should be going Top 10, this draft.
One is Owen Power a defenseman and the other 2 are Centres Beniers as minivan mentioned, and Kent Johnson.
I would be pretty happy any one of the 3. |

I actually don't mind the deal, what I don't like is the whole make up of this team. No direction, no consistency, no defensive ability, no plan...no hope. |

Not sure how the fanbase is going to react to the trade of Hughes and Schmidt to New Jersey, for Severson and Smith, but I would be happy.😁 |

You can find a list of draft eligible players that I have found acceptable to draft so far in the forums. 😆😉 |

Yeah, that sounds like too much work. I’ll just wait for the draft to happen, then come here to hear what a good/bad job Jim did. |

I remember ranting about how I thought that Ty Smith wouldn't have the offensive level of Hughes but would be a better overall defencemen. I have tried to find it a few times but with no success. |

I know you stated that and I agreed with you and still think Smith is the better overall defenseman.
I also think Severson is a better defenseman than Schmidt, plus he makes 1.7 million less. |

I try to understand where you are coming from with your hot takes but with the eye test and even looking at the numbers don't know how you come up with them.
sorry. |

"Two years! How many times do I have to say it??"
