The 2021 season may not be over yet but the 2022 cap crunch is in full swing.
@JeffVeillette
The Vancouver Canucks have $23.5M committed next year to Myers, Eriksson, Pearson, Beagle, Roussel, and Virtanen.
@EvolvingHockey
has this group worth a combined -6.7 GAR this year. They have $17M remaining to sign Pettersson, Hughes, and fill 6 to 8 more roster spots. Disastrous.

Probably a bit more. I think we'll lose a contract in expansion. Plus if the rumblings about Beags are true. Loving the panic over this signing though. It's been pretty funny. |

I can’t speak for others, but at this point I just feel apathy toward this regime. Panic for me was way back during the Sbisa/Sutter fiascos
At this point it would take something ridiculously and shockingly bad for me to care enough to panic |

We can't gift Podz a spot on Bo's line, but you can't re-sign the player that has fit in nicely with Bo. SMH.
I was fine either way trade or re-sign, as I stated earlier, I don't like the makeup of this team so I would prefer they just change at the top and go from there...not gonna happen though. |

Yeah, I wasn't on here for those but really didn't like the extension of Sutter before he even played a game. I'm OK with Pearson.
I think a lot of it is the wrong GM making the deals. A new GM comes in and does the same deal with Pearson and it probably gets applauded. |

I don't blame him. What kind of boss gives you a raise before you've even worked a day for him? |

You guys got me listening to Angel Dust. I think my fav track is still Midlife Crisis, but who doesn't like a good jizzlobber? |

I think he will be here at least 2 more seasons.
Nucker mentioned apathy, which is the best way to describe the feeling of most Canuck fans I have text or talked on the phone with.
Not a lot of optimism and it has been going on longer than just the last couple months. |

Way ahead of it's time. Not many people liked it when it first came out. |

Depends on when they let the fans back into the games. I doubt he makes it through next year if we start losing in front of a crowd. I think the leash is already pretty short. |

I don't see this team being a team that is going to be anything higher than a bubble team for the next couple seasons.
Let's see what some of these kids have and I don't mean they have to play these kids all at once, a few games here and there and spread out amongst a few of them. |

Quite honestly, with the way the world has been going, I'm afraid to look that far ahead. But I see more of the same, a team that goes only as far as the Goalie can carry them. At least until some of the kids get a chance to mature. |

I expected Hughes to take a step back this year.
And thought we were 1 or 2 injuries away from disaster with our shallow depth on D.
Demko was a ? For me.
I think it’s reasonable to expect improvements next year, especially without the crazy Canadian corona division |

Maybe if JB's plan was one plan.
Feels like that he has 3 different plans. Draft and develop. Sign free agents. Makes trades.
If he could manage to coordinate the 3 of them together instead of them all having a different direction for the team and if he could get a coach that could go with his plan instead of having his own plan as well. |

Utica Comets play tonight. The last time they played a game was March 10th. |

It feels like those three different plans happen on a rotating monthly basis, and they shoot the other plans in the foot as they trade off. |

That's right. I had always hoped that the draft and develop plan would kind of take over the other plans. Trading and signing of free agents would be just to be used to fill short term voids.
Not saying it wouldn't or couldn't because drafting and developing is a never ending process but it's just not being allowed to take the next step. Which I think that mostly falls on the coaching staff. Green wasn't good at developing in Utica, couldn't ever imagine he was going to be good at it at a higher level. |

Can't wait for JBs presser about how Tanner is a real important player for us and good in the room. I wonder how much an add would be to run on sportsnet 650 asking for Benning to be fired |

Think NHL scouts made a mistake underrating Eamon Powell in 2020 and letting him slip to the 4th round (to Tampa no less). Maybe they fixated on his partner Sanderson too much.
Shouldn't be the case this year with Aidan Hreschuk (Luke Hughes's partner). He's 1st-round quality
--------------
(frank) sakes, he was my choice for Van's 3rd round pick last season. |
