Nah just wondering if you have an actual opinion...oh wait...

not true at all. Anyone could pick 1-3 players on each team, where they are severely overpaid per their production. The variance is obviously how much they make compared to what they provide. The bigger comparison needs to be how many of these bad contracts each team has, compared to ours, and how they are doing in the standings compared to us.
Take Boston for example. Since 2011, they have remained extremely competitive, continued to draft well, and have a projected 29.5 million in cap space next season with the following players left to sign:
Krecji 7.25 mill (will probably let walk)
Nick Ritchie 1.49 (will probably give a slight raise)
Kuraly 1.275 (wil probably get a slight raise)
Blidh 700k (will let walk)
Kevan Miller 1.25 (will probably give a slight raise or let walk)
Kampfer 800k (will give a slight raise)
Tinordi 700k (will most likely let walk)
their core is signed to good, capfriendly long term deals outside of Coyle, and Debrusk, and they have a ton of cap space to continue to insulate that Core with complimentary deals. They continue to get value complimentary deals at reasonably low costs, where we are paying between 3mill and 4.5 mill to do the same thing, yet ours aren't providing that value (Beagle/Roussel/Sutter - Codes1087[Sutter hasn't actually been bad this year, but its the last year of his 4 year contract where he sucked entirely up until now)
Not disagreeing with your points here Codes, but using Boston as an example of players that need to be re-signed, you may want to add the fact that they need to sign 2 goalies, as both Rask and Halas are UFA and a very important defenseman for them also needs to be re-signed, as does the young Trent Frederic.
I was ok with letting Pearson walk but I also understand why he brought him back. If Hogs and Pods don't work out in the top 6 next season then you are back to finding two more players to compliment Miller Boeser Horvat and Petey. Pearson gives them flexibility at a decent price. If Hogs and Pods steal this spots full time you can still use Pearson and a utility guy on the 3-4 lines. Win win. Now that Pearson is back I'm expecting Sutter to be gone for sure. This is just a negative reaction so folks can whine about not signing Toffoli...which was also a good call in letting him walk as time will show.
Pearson really isn't the issue. It's getting rid of Edler (and possibly Myers) to get the D built around Hughes properly. That will take some time. - LordHumungous
Pearson himself isn't exactly the issue. It's the sum of all the parts that make it the issue: the cap mismanagement, not learning from mistakes, not reading the market, no clear steady vision, mixed messages and increasing timelines, mortgaging futures at the wrong time, bad trades/signings/speeches/etc, time management...
Everyone gave JB room enough to get out from bad contracts and a bad situation when he came on. All the bad contracts and situations that he's dealing with now are his own. And it seems like every year he needs more time, because ever year he keeps making bad decisions. Even as you pointed out, rebuilding the D after he rebuilt the D, by now getting rid of players the he himself signed.

Trent Frederic will be super cheap, the kid is basically Ryan Reeves.
While I do agree they still have to address their goalie situation, they do have the cap space to do address it. I don't think Tukka Rask plays next year (retires), and they have Jeremy Swayman who might be ready to play in the show. Hes 8-1 in the AHL with a 1.89 GAA and a 0.933 SAV%. He will most likely backup.

Maybe they need a good vet goalie to help bring the young guy along? Someone familiar with the Eastern Conference... a Holtby like goalie, if you will

Expect it to be a bit sore later today and tomorrow. Also, it might start protruding out a little, so you should just push it back into place. - Reubenkincade
I think i'm good, all the Apps on my phone already updated simultaneously.
The 2021 season may not be over yet but the 2022 cap crunch is in full swing.
@JeffVeillette
The Vancouver Canucks have $23.5M committed next year to Myers, Eriksson, Pearson, Beagle, Roussel, and Virtanen.
@EvolvingHockey
has this group worth a combined -6.7 GAR this year. They have $17M remaining to sign Pettersson, Hughes, and fill 6 to 8 more roster spots. Disastrous. - manvanfan
Waive Myers and Virtanen and cut your losses. The rest nobody wants.
