Do you have any friends or family that have or have gotten COVID? - CanuckDon
7 people I know have parents or family members that have died of covid.
A co-worker's mother was in an assisted living home in WPG, she was in a wheel chair because she was in a car accident 8 years ago and lost function in her legs. 66 years old perfectly healthy otherwise. Ventilator for two weeks, didn't help. |

Neither does a condom or a seatbelt, yet hundreds of millions of people use them.
What's your point. I wasn't debating getting one. Just sick and tired of people thinking this is a 100% forever cure. It isn't. |

That’s wild, and the reason I asked Marwood. Our own experiences impact how we feel about COVID. I have roughly 25 friends that have had it and the symptoms range from mild flu to no symptoms at all. My buddy in Phoenix (ex NFL QB) lost his sense of smell for a month and had a mild fever. He is older and out of shape. He had the worst symptoms of anyone I know. Of a house of 8 young people that live together in Whistler, 6 had no symptoms. Perhaps the Canucks variant is worst.
I also think it’s easier for people that live in small communities/ are retired or semi retired to say shut it all down. I have some young, single people that work for me and their lives are hell. Isolating in a studio apartment by themselves for over a year: that’s no way to live. No wonder people are turning to drugs |

Wait, you just wrote this...
Thanks Carol! Maybe I’m a heartless bastard but how many people does everyone know that have had to quarantine alone? l know a countless number. They were fine and the players will be just fine. They can stay connected to their families via Zoom. Great job by the Rangers organization to ensure the whole roster is vaccinated today. - CanuckDon
So young single people are killing themselves or turning into drug addicts because they are lonely and can’t get laid is a tragedy but parents who are in isolation with the virus should suck it up and use Zoom?
My god man, that’s awesome. |

The mental toll these restrictions has taken on people is out of (frank)ing control. Suicides, overdoses. Do NOT shutdown again. If people feel worried for their own safety/ families safety then stay home until you can get the vaccine - CanuckDon
Correct again. 13 months of mask mandates, Lockdowns and restrictions have solved absolutely nothing as was predicted. Christ even Harvard and Stanford released white papers about lol. Whatever anyone's political affiliation or belief-structure may be, this 'thing' will run it's course no matter what. Time to end the virtue-signalling and illusion of safety and get on with life. If you are scared stay home until vaccinated and quit punishing the healthy and small businesses.
People have their life savings invested and have double-mortgaged their homes to save their businesses. All we ask for our Govts is to be pro active instead of reactive and stop doing the same f*ucking thing over and over again as it doesn't work.
Suicide rates above 12 year olds are up 300% here. Would be nice for people to give a sh!t about that as well as just thinking inward about Covid.
Vaccine has been out for over 4 months now. Move on.

You're not wrong.
People need to believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel tho, otherwise it's overwhelming.
First people were waiting for summer, then waiting for a vaccine to be ok'd, then for a certain percentage of the population to be vaccinated...now we got the variants that are going to throw a proverbial wrench in the works.
I don't think anyone really what how this'll play out.

My sister in law had it and she had I guess sort of somewhere in the middle symptoms. She wasn't sick but couldn't leave her bed for 3 days. She still can't taste months later. Her daughter got it and was kind of the same just slept for days. Her BF who she sort of stayed away from, he never got it.
People's needs are different and people are in different situations.
I work with 18-65 year olds and since I'm the health and safety representative, we have safety measure's the company has mandated and getting everyone to comply has led to a whole lot of different conversations on how people feel about covid.

Pretty much the same here. It went through our work late last spring. Lots had it and were fine. A few had worse symptoms/reactions but all were ok. But like you said our own experiences reflect how we believe the impacts are as well. Maybe the Canucks variant is worse? But what is the answer to the 'future variants' lol? 4-lockdowns per year that solve nothing? Again Pro active responses vs reactive responses are required. But most govt officials are too fu*cking stupid to think outside the box and solve issues. Just follow and copy the next province or country. |

Very true. I have yet to have anyone in my circle of friends get Covid. And out of friends of friends no one has had a serious case of it. |

Because people don't listen and go against it constantly. a 4 weeks lock down may not do anything because without police/military enforcing it, people will still go out and make up excuses. If EVERYONE listened, and every country did it right, COVID would be gone in a few weeks. But it is impossible to get that many people to listen without threatening their life/financial wellbeing. |

Bo horvat is a wealthy dude that has a bubble of 35- 40 people. It’s 14 days, dude will be fine. Yes, I feel worse for a person in a studio apartment with a bubble of 1 or 2 that is struggling to pay rent. Is this confusing? |

I have had a few who had it, and most had a rough time, nobody went on ventilators luckily. Most people say it is a cold on steroids, the people who say it is nothing more than a mild flu are the minority of cases. |

My point is, that like seatbelts, a Covid vaccine isn’t 100% protection against injury or death, but if you you are vaccinated it significantly reduces the likelihood that you will get sick, and even if you do, it significantly reduces the instances of severe illness.
Get one or don’t, it’s none of my business, but saying it isn’t effective is dumb, and I know you aren’t dumb.
I also haven’t seen anyone here saying it’s 100% anything, or The answer to all our problems. |
