Stanley has been on a roll lately and somehow he didn't notice that Dikky Panik was placed on and cleared waivers.

Someone take his phone away from him before he sees this.

Now that McD is gone, there doesn't need to be a marketing angle to every transaction.

Bowman statement: “We are receiving a very exciting, young player with a bright future in Henrik Borgstrom. He is a high-end talent and we think he has the ability to be a big time player for us..."
- Chunk

And he prefers to wear number 95 which was last (and only) worn by Hawk legend...Dylan Sikura.

Yes, Regula also is primed to have greater upside than Carlsson. Good puck mover and excellent shot but needs to improve in his own end especially when under duress.

Although out for the season and has one year left on his ELC, I also wouldn't count out Krys. He at least gives a darn on defense. His head knows what to do but his strength needs to catch up.

Theo do see more moves coming and using the LTRI money and if so any opinions or thoughts? Maybe a blog on mock drafts possibilities for the hawks.

What did stanley say about him coming back and playing in the NHL? Is he stuck in finland for another season?

The question is...does this get us closer to getting Getzlaf or Kesler...?

I know the guy is dry, but this struck me as really funny:

I know Ogi has the Captain Obvious avatar, but it seems to me this will be judged a good trade if the Finn turns out to be a Top 9 center when the Hawks are good again. And nobody will remember it if he doesn't.

we are not a fast team to start with so adding a slow 4th line player with a big salary I think we should have returned more. he will not be taken in the EXP draft more likely we lose henrik Borgstrom in the EXP draft. LTIR helps in season but only slightly when we need to be compliant on DAY 1.

Agreed.

They didn't give up much to get a potential top end player and assuming Toews comes back...he could be the 3c or 2c. There really isn't much to not like about the trade...low risk...high reward.

We can put players on LTIR before the season, you just don't accrue any salary benefit during the year for the games they miss.

Haha the great Sikura. Half the board kept beating the drum he was a lock to be a middle 6 forward on the Hawks and had NHL talent.

Stan is typically a reserved fellow. Given that, he seemed pretty excited about the prospects for the Finn.

Their record with Euro scouting has been good.

SCOUTING REPORT
Owns a supremely projectable frame and loads of scoring and two-way upside. Can snipe goals as well as be the playmaker on a scoring line. Is anything but a finished product, as he tends to run hot and cold too often. Must fill out his lanky frame and find a greater consistency level.
Long Range Potential: Big, talented center with upside.

Put him with Kane next year, see what he's got

- LAHawk

Put him in Rockford for a year

Nobody is mentioning Stillman I'm reading he's a better fit and has more upside than Carlsson?

My guess is the Hawks think they can flip Connolly or he can find his game in the bottom 6.

Carlsson did not have a spot on this team in the future. Too many D prospects jumped ahead of him.

Borgstrom is an interesting prospect. A bit older but he put up some big numbers at U of D. Is he an upgrade over Strome? Big centers with offensive upside aren't easy to come by and the Hawks certainly have shown a knack for developing guys from Europe.

Not like the Florida GM banished him to Finland to not ever see him again:

HENRIK BORGSTROM
C, FLORIDA PANTHERS

Henrik Borgstrom will remain in Finland's SM-liiga for now.
Borgstrom has a goal and three points in six SM-liiga games this season. Panthers GM Bill Zito wants to wait until Borgstrom is feeling confident again before bringing him back. There's no timetable for when that will be, but Zito didn't rule out Borgstrom returning to North American hockey in 2020-21. Borgstrom suffered a late season injury in 2019-20 and couldn't participate in the NHL's Return to Play as a result. When the Panthers do bring him back, he'll need a new contract given that he's currently a restricted free agent.

I was a Stan fan during the cup years and as you know I soured on him the past couple of years, that being said...I like that he is sticking to a plan and furthermore this is what good GM's do...they take a strength (D Prospects) and fill a need which is potential top 6 forwards. He may have done that here and if not he didn't give up much. With Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Kalnychuck (sp?), & Regula...plus others you figure 3 or 4 will be part of the future. I like the potential of Borgstrom and with Dcat, Dach, Kubalik, and potentially Reichel. They could have something in terms of a solid top 6 sprinkled with veterans.

Yes on another move or so to either trade players on one-year deals like Soderberg and Janmark for futures and/or to take on cap dollars for futures (hopefully high picks whether 1sts and 2nds.

If Borgstrom wasn't part of the latest trade, that 7th rounder they got would likely have been much higher or else why do the deal.

As for a blog on a mock draft, yes, that is in the cards but likely not until the end of the season. Maybe a teaser here and there before then.
