You aren't getting a 2nd for Soderberg and if you get that for Janmark, take it and run.
They effectively just added depth by picking up Vinnie and Connolly. Soderberg for sure doesn't fit into plans for next year and if Janmark doesn't then trade both.
It would be great to make the playoffs but this is still about beyond this year. More picks equals more kicks at the can. - HawkintheD
If the “opportunity cost” of keeping them is a 3rd pick or lower, it costs them almost nothing to keep them - and the future impact is minimal.
Vince and Connolly are likely to be playing, not be insurance: where is the protection should they get injured? Highmore? Carpenter? |

In addition to the Hawks-Leafs rumor that others have shared, David Pagnotta is reporting that the Leafs, Bruins, and Penguins are interested in Janmark. |

Why? For that return I’d keep both as protection against injury, Covid protocol, plague, any other reason keeping other Blackhawks from playing.
Third round picks and lower are relatively worthless, IMO - not at all likely to snag an impact player, if the draftee even ever sniffs the Show.
This team is still in the playoff hunt - don’t do anything that costs a future draft pick or prospect, but also don’t sell as cheap as that.
A 2nd for each, nothing less, IMO. - StLBravesFan

Soderberg's been a healthy scratch the last what...3 or 4 games? |

Hagel, Suter are not top 6 for a cup contender. Strome is not a wing. Barratt looks like the same asHagel, Suter in upside.
I will add to your list Kurashev (center or wing). - LAHawk
Basically, the only top 6 in the system is Reichel and it's not like the NHL club is loaded to start. |

That’s a new one to me, but I’m thinking “Cabin” has to be better than some other names that you’ve been called. |

According to reports, Nikita Gusev (Devlls) is on unconditional waivers with the intent of terminating his contract. He will be available to sign elsewhere (at much lower than his $4.5 cap hit) starting tomorrow but has to sign by Monday to be playoff eligible. |

Lebrun is suggesting the Hawks and Leafs are talking about a deal to open up some cap room for Toronto. No specifics.
https://www.prohockeyrumo...toronto-hall-iafallo.html - paulr
If the Hawks help Toronto at the TDL and it results in the Leafs winning the SC neither one of us would ever forgive Stan Bowman. In fact, IMO that crime would be punishable by execution by firing squad on W. Madison Ave. half hour after the Cup win.
But I guess if he forced Kyle Dumbass to cough up Rasmus Sandin and Nick Robertson in return for the cap space I could along with 6 months on Death Row before execution. |

Three months!
What would be great is to get Robertson and the player the leafs get gets a season ending injury. |

If not a 1st round pick, I'd ask for Sandin, Robertson, or Amirov from the Leafs.
Nick's older brother Jason on the Stars is pretty darn good. He's in the Calder conversation this season. |

Totally agree about moving on from a miss. It appeared from the outside last offseason Stan was willing to move on from Strome. Of course, he got Strome by moving on from Schmaltz. He also moved on from The Joker to get Nylander. But sports is littered with GM's hanging on to their picks too long. - mohel
Bowman was the GM who hung on longest to Rundblad. Bowman willingfully did not hang on too long to Ejdsell.
The newbie center from Florida sounds better than those prospects. Skates better so that matters..Bowman has followed him since his and Mitchell collegiate days together out in Colorado. His reports actually sound encouraging; sounds like he could get into our lineup soon.
My concern was given as: why is he included in this trade if Florida questions his ceiling, since if they like him he isn't dealt ALSO Bowman has been after a big center having traded for Ejdsell and drafted Dach. I saw where criticism laid out as far as putting his game together. I wanted to hear how he was progressing; sounds like he is actually looking better, progressing from an offensive point of reference. Wiz broke it down farther to me personally, so I am on board with this player's acquisition.
As far as Carlsson, please recall I always had him pegged as a complimentary third pair and depth. The fact that he was not bad in any one area, was ready for an NHL challenge and is willing provide a physical brand of performance stood out as the exception to top billed dman Chicago prospects.
And that another GM picks him out over various veterans around the league tells me that NO NOT that he is a great prospect but instead he is not too bad. Until most of the players in the trade develop, Connelly and Carlsson represent the better guys so far in this deal.
There are lots of skill issues to like about Carlsson. There remains how steady he will become at the NHL level. Also quite interesting both Forsling and Carlsson on Florida. If Keith ever approved a trade say to Florida so as to finish his career down there, he could be one representative among three as half their blueline Corp hailing from the Blackhawks!

I'm good with Sandin and Robertson. Leafs can keep all of the Communists they have under contract because those guys quit every year about April 15. |

I don't he's making about a mil per year to play a game. Career earnings north of 5 mil already. Probably have a nice hockey related job in the low 6 figures after he retires (if he wants).
Pro athletes face the same problems everyday people do except they don't have to worry about money problems like most people.
I feel for the guy who made me a potbellys breakfast sandwich this morning prob making $12/hr or less living in Chicago. It was hot as hell in there mix in wearing a mask. Yuck.
