Listened to Shane Malloy (prospects nalysit for NHL Radio). He said Borgstrom was rushed by Florida, and should of spent more time on the AHL team (especially if they were going to slot him immediately as a top 6 center). He said he has size, can skate, has hockey sense, and now that he is 23 should be ready for the NHL. |

You mean like a Murphy? - Angotti
He's 28. Will he be the same guy in 3-4 years when the young puck movers are ready for prime time?

I’m okay if Janmark, Soderberg, Connelly, Highmore, and de Haan, are all traded, I’m also okay with Zadorov going, just want a decent return. Zadorov would be a good 5 or 6 @ $2.5M if you have Keith, Seabrook, Oduya, and Hammer in their prime, otherwise get what you can for him. If we run into Covid or injuries, then you bring up guys from the Rock, it is what it is. |

Bowman was the GM who hung on longest to Rundblad. Bowman willingfully did not hang on too long to Ejdsell.
The newbie center from Florida sounds better than those prospects. Skates better so that matters..Bowman has followed him since his and Mitchell collegiate days together out in Colorado. His reports actually sound encouraging; sounds like he could get into our lineup soon.
My concern was given as: why is he included in this trade if Florida questions his ceiling, since if they like him he isn't dealt ALSO Bowman has been after a big center having traded for Ejdsell and drafted Dach. I saw where criticism laid out as far as putting his game together. I wanted to hear how he was progressing; sounds like he is actually looking better, progressing from an offensive point of reference. Wiz broke it down farther to me personally, so I am on board with this player's acquisition.
As far as Carlsson, please recall I always had him pegged as a complimentary third pair and depth. The fact that he was not bad in any one area, was ready for an NHL challenge and is willing provide a physical brand of performance stood out as the exception to top billed dman Chicago prospects.
And that another GM picks him out over various veterans around the league tells me that NO NOT that he is a great prospect but instead he is not too bad. Until most of the players in the trade develop, Connelly and Carlsson represent the better guys so far in this deal.
There are lots of skill issues to like about Carlsson. There remains how steady he will become at the NHL level. Also quite interesting both Forsling and Carlsson on Florida. If Keith ever approved a trade say to Florida so as to finish his career down there, he could be one representative among three as half their blueline Corp hailing from the Blackhawks!

Another way to look at that is only Stan was willing to eat Connolly and it was Carlsson take it or leave it.

While I do agree with giving kids time I also think a GM who moves on from a miss is a good thing. If Nylander commits to the rehab and conditioning he gets some leash but it's a short leash. Get lazy, get gone. - 6628
It is a short season and I'm only a TV doctor but I've not heard of meniscus being a serious knee injury? |

You need to go back to the original comment about Ejdsell. A blogger mentioned that I should not compare our new center from Florida to him
.Both big lanky centers drafted in round one. I noted the fail on Ejdsell and hoped this latest trade would not be for another center fail. I noted, why does Florida trade a descent #1 round prospect if they still retained high hope for him. They rushed him and now he was not on their AHL team, but back in Finland.
I clearly was looking for input on Borgstrom. Wiz and others on this site have reported how Borgstrom is a descent skater. Compare to Ejdsell who moved slow - I saw him in his NHL debut. Our new center has actually progressed well and. appears to be a good add. Initially Borgstrom raised red flags, which needed to be checked out. Not comparable, after all, to Ejdsell. |

Depends on the size of the tear and where it's located. My son tore his during a game and it rolled up into his knee. He was out for 4 months. It was a complete tear.

Ejdsell isn't a center and was never drafted. He was a free agent signing by Nashville. |

Edjell was signed as a FA,by Nashville, not a #1 draft choice. Florida is in win now mode, and probably liked Borgstrom better than the draft pick they were offering (a #2?). Also a different GM in Florida, has different plan (they are pretty strong at center now).
Finally this does not preclude Stan from making any other deal, retaining salary, etc. You'd think we traded Ray Bourque, what kind of return do you think you were going to get for Carlsson.

CBJ supposedly looking for help at C. Maybe Strome will interest them during the offseason.
Don't know what we could get from them in return. |
