fine...now that you've got your final number, do you really want to debate $200k for a rebuilding team whose estimated salary expenditure for this season, according to cap friendly, is $54M?...
it's well worth it for them...and since mike illitch bought the franchise they've never been afraid of spending money so there's no real argument here - Michael Pachla
I do, yes.
It's a simple question: Is $200K or more really a good usage of dollars for only a 4th round pick?
I don't think it is. |

anything is possible, but that trade is absolutely absurd...if holland trades away their first this year and next he has a grand total of two pick in the first three rounds of the next two drafts...and what is hall's worth, certainly not high at this time...
holland's not an idiot and there's really no way to justify that trade...it's absurd clickbait - Michael Pachla
The cost of a team getting rid of likely their worst contract is very high in a flat cap world.
- Neal, Broberg, 2021 1st round pick for Hall 50% retained
Is that a good deal for the Sabres? I don't think it's enough for having to take Neal's contract. |

Do the Oilers have to shed Neal's cap hit to fit Hall? |

so what use does $200k really have?...salary for an ahl player?...a little over 25% of a player at league minimum?...free pizzas for all fans for a few home games? |

I think so, but the LTIR makes it iffy. |

$200K is around 25% of a quality player like Lazar, or a real home run like Carter Verhaeghe. |

he's already said he's not trading away his 2021 first...and i believe him as he'll have no pick until the fourth round if he does that...
would holland trade away his 2022 first rounder?...maybe...but i doubt it |

you make it sound as if they need to penny pinch...they don't this year or next and really it's not even worth arguing about...
take it to the detroit thread and ask them if it's worth it...i couldn't care less and, tbh, no sabres fan should really give a damn...
last comment on it...fire away |

A high risk

I would normally agree if it wasn't for Neal. Marc Staal at 5.4 on an expiring contract cost a 2nd. Staal could still play in the NHL.
Neal, makes more (5.75 I believe) has this remaining year on top of two. Add that with Hall for 4 million, which should cost anywhere from a 1st to a 2nd.
All of a sudden Hall at 4 million for Neal, and 2 1st doesnt sound so crazy. Unlikely, but not crazy.
Holland said he wouldn't move a 1st for a rental, he wouldn't be, he would be moving 1sts to get rid of 2 more years of an AHL player making 5.75m. |

I don't think enough GMs understand the value of bad contracts and cap space.
The flat cap is making some learn on the fly. |

This is also why send a first to Seattle with Skinner makes so much sense (not that they would do it). Cap space is an asset. |

Ssoooo...
Okposo gets the raging jock itch, LTIR, with cushy harbor center gig.
Neal goes full Burgland and gets his contract terminated, because Buffalo.
Skinner gets the lower 2022 first sent to Seattle because his 2 old GMs are there...
Cap cleaned up... lol |

I personally would keep skinner. Every player has looked better since ralph has left. He probably should be making 7 million, but it is what it is.
Skinner Eichel Thompson
Haula (signing) Cozens Reinhart
Olofsson Mittelstadt TBD (sign some type of Richard player)
Ruosto Asplund Lazer

If Skinner can become 40 goal/year Skinner again here - for the remainder of the contract - that would be just fine. Can he do it ? If he's playing with Eichel, I'm going to go with......yes ?

He's on Jack's wing next year.
They've got no choice. They HAVE to get him going again. |

He was that player for 4 months out of his entire career. Before that or after that he was never anything like that. If you have a chance to move him (which is very very unlikely) you jump at it. That's a ton of cap space that you could use for something else.

I have a feeling that people here hate that contract SO much, that if Skinner scored 45-50 goals a year for the contracts duration, people would still want him gone.

Staal looks worse with the Habs than he did here. He really needs to hang up his skates at the end of the season. |

40 goals yes
But he can easily get back to 25/30 goal skinner while being a pest lite and drawing a (frank) ton of penalties, which he was for the majority of his career. At this point we are stuck with him, so getting something like that is better then what we’re currently go going on 🤷 |
