The human element is generally ignored. I try to include it in my thinking a lot these days. Some will say (frank) em they're assets, but the human element matters. Players talk. - TheSabresTaco
This, times 100. This stuff gets around. Also, it never hurts to do right by someone. Also, Hall had the NMC. It isn't like KA could have gone and just done what he wanted anyway.

Hopefully the red bulls release him from his contract this summer so he can come over
Like I said we basically got a player that Should've went top 5 now ..( Ottawa Is probably kicking themselves right now)
This is why this draft is money for us we could be getting player Potentials like Peterka in the 3rd round.. - gerbe75pts
Could be Gerbe's, especially with everything going on. |

Same.
There's nothing he did that was like oh wow that was nice. Drake and Anders could be nice role players for us going forward. Sending an old horse to the glue factory for a 3rd and a 5th was a nice piece of business, getting a 3rd for a defenseman who can't play defense was fine, and the Hall trade, considering there was one team to deal with, along with his entire 2 goals for 4M, was fine.

It's a free asset so I have a hard time getting too worked up over the return. That said, I think he should have been able to swing a conditional 1st if he said "cup win, playoff MVP and re-signs"
Boston would have no reason not to agree to that. At least that's what I think but yeah, maybe they just told him to take a 2nd or kick rocks.
We got a 2nd for nothing so idk, it's whatever - jcragcrumple
Right. Staal (from Mojo) and Hall were free assets, it's just too bad we turned a 1st, 2nd and 3rd into a 3rd and 6th.

Ristolainen plays the way KA wants his players to play. I don't have confidence that he will be traded. He fits his stated identity.

I'm surprised you guys are so generous here. This was really the bare minimum he could do. It's barely passing to me and it deferred all the big decisions.

I think Lunaion is right about Ullmark. If he walks then Adams will rightly get heat. If and when that time comes then I'll reassess.
In the grand tradition of Sabres GMs backing themselves into a corner, Adams is up against it with Ullmark contract negotiations. His leverage is minimal to nonexistent |

I would say that depends on if Granato stays as HC, might be good to get him in Rochester so Appert can get him going in the system. |

i think it depends a lot on what other players they draft.. they will need to hit the floor so that part could be attractive. - SabresFaninIndiana
Forgot about that. Very true, just going to have to see how it shakes out. I'm still hopeful he's on Jack's wing once he's back and bounces back. |

I would think that Montour fit Granato's system way more than Risto. Fast, attacking D... the latter isn't Risto |

Rot for no reason, nothing. Rot in Buffalo or accept the better offer that was presented potentially has huge upside but is a gamble. KA does not strike me as a gambler so I’m sure Boston smelled the desperation and got Lazar out of the deal plus a cap dump and salary dump on us - lulags
You all keep talking about Lazar like he's some high important asset. He's a decent fourth liner.. Like that's it. He's so replaceable. And if you are that concerned with the "cap dump" buy him out. You know how much it costs to do that? 283K for 3 years, and 83K for a year... O the sky is falling. |

I’d say Peterka goes first round in a redraft. But top 5, even top 10 is too rich for my blood.
I thought he’d go in the 20-30 range last year and in a redraft I think around 20 seems about right give or take a few spots |

Not to further depress everyone but yesterday Bulldog all but confirmed the fabled "Risto for Ehlers" deal but Botterill wasnt willing to do a mid-round pick swap |

Ofta, that stings. All things considered, mighta had an impact on ROR staying, but also potentially not getting Dahlin. The book of what ifs goes on forever. |

How many 'big' decisions are made at the TDL? I think Anthony Mantha was the only one. |
