" I believe he also said he didn't feel comfortable getting into details."

you could take this 4 different ways and none of those ways are good long term

So if Eichel retires due to injury, what does that do to the Sabres Cap?

Giving away our players is not a way forward to success

Of course not. I am just one of the ones that thinks that we will get better by moving him and I don't need a big return. I also think that he has been a warrior for us and that he deserves a change. Win win.

Not saying it will happen, because a few people on hear will jump all over that. But Carolina has called.

Sabres Coach Granato on his Challenge.

Ok, this is NOT a rumor but I love it. There are many reasons to love Sabres Coach Granato. Years back I said the two smartest guys NOT working as an NHL GM or Head Coach were Bill Zito and Donny Granato.

We all see what Zito has already done, and Granato is handling a CRAZY situation in Buffalo with tremendous ease and perspective. One of his biggest assets is his ability to always find the perfect perspective for a situation.

I asked him today about the challenges coaching a Sabres team right now that is essentially waiting for players to be traded...

His response to me was simple and perfect.

"It is challenging, but similar to a normal day in the AHL actually. You always lose your best player or your hottest player, plus I have lots of good, hungry people here to help me. The players have been great!"

If Granato isn't the Sabres coach next year he will be someone else's coach...and remember....the Sabres also interviewed Zito...twice.. just saying.

Book this 36

Risto isnt getting traded unless it's an overpayment of epic return.

Would Granato have any say or input into players he wants on the roster, ie when making trades? We understand Ralph had a lot of say, and Granato is interim so I’m guessing little to none. Or perhaps some ‘synergy’ with players he has coached before like Drake.

He certainly does.

The record won't reflect it, but for the most part he's gotten them going (and he's gotten one of the most important pieces going, in Dahlin).

Such a potential conundrum.

I almost wish we could keep him for Rochester, if they go with someone else for Buffalo.

If we go with him in Buffalo, it should be a one year prove it contract

Doom and gloom perspective : I just wonder when (if ?) Eichel comes back, how will he and Granato interact ? Everything seems to be going well with Granato now...It would be totally Buffalo for him and Eichel not to get along.

It was kind of funny watch Grigorenko play for CBus last night. He still has that awful choppy skating style that prevented him from being more than he is.

Keep him as an assistant, especially D coach. The “record won’t reflect it” attitude has to be thrown out the window. And it’s not all him, the roster needs a complete overhaul.

I didn't see a ton of the game but I couldn't help notice Zadorov. I didn't see him much in the defensive zone but it seems as though he turned out to be what we hoped Risto would be - a gritty D that can not only skate fast but bring the puck up ice.

I’ve been on the “big name” coaching train for a while... but with what I’ve seen from Tage, Mitts, Asplund, Dahlin... man, I think Don is making a solid case for himself.

As Pach has pointed out, there isn’t a ton of pressure on the team and he can free wheel a bit. You aren’t sure what he will do when the pressure is on or what in game adjustments might be but he needs strong consideration for what he’s done getting the kids and even Okposo rolling.

Can you surround him with some strong assistants (I like Garidari too) and pull together a good competitive staff?

Adams has a bunch of tough decisions to make.

For the life of me, I have no idea why his AGM wasn’t brought in before this TDL.

But, TDL, hopefully adding front office help, coaches, draft, off season moves, expansion draft... dude has a lot to do and not a lot of help to do it...

I want him to be able to have the opportunity to coach a healthy roster. It's almost unfair.

Just because things haven't been announced doesn't mean that KA isn't getting help. For all we know there is an arrangement, or at the very least he is bouncing ideas off of others.
