1. Flat cap, no one has any space to do anything.
2. Hall had a NMC
3. Hall, a guy strictly used for offense, didn't provide offense.
4. All insiders had him worth a 3rd round pick.
5. There was a clear bidding war, and it says a lot about Hall's value when this is the return.
6. Bjork is whatever, and Kevyn has a lot of ability to reshape the roster this year.
All this butthurt is simply people lining up at the Peace Bridge because Kevyn didn't get anything for Hall. Your disappointment should be directed at Hall for not actually doing anything. The name recognition far outweighs his real value. Like Staal, who has also been useless, spare an OT goal in his first game.
Hall's performance is more disappointing than what he netted in a trade. Let's also try to keep in mind we gave up nothing to get him and Lazar. Bjork will have a new opportunity under a new coach, and you all should be pretty familiar with what can happen with players under a new coach and system.
Everyone 'giving up' on this franchise because of a (frank)ing trade. So the last ten years didn't do it, but getting a 2nd for Hall did? Grow up. - TheSabresTaco[/quote]
As much as I hate this trade, I agree with this.

100% this trade today is exactly what Hall is worth. My point is the moment you signed Hall there should have been a trade plan for him when the season started going south, and that was fairly early on. The chances you could have gotten more than this trade I have to imagine would have been a bit higher. We all have our riffs with Darcy but when he traded Vanek in October 2013 it was an absolutely incredible move to be proactive like that. I disagree with you on Staal, 3rd or 4th line center sure, but he thought he could fill the 2nd line.
Right now all Adams has been doing is making "comfortable" moves. Nobody has any idea what the actual vision is for the type of team he is trying to build. Murray was incredibly bad with asset management but we all saw he was attempting to build a more western conference type team. - buffalokb
What did Staal do in Minnesota that suggested he couldn't handle 2nd line minutes? He absolutely cliff dove.
But you're right. We need to see Kevyn's vision and we need to see a staff. All I'm trying to say is that we should be as mad today as we were yesterday. This trade shouldn't be some catalyst.
With the Vanek thing, yeah, we could have moved him quickly, but there was mutual interest to re-sign him. After it was obvious that he was no where near the player he should have been, we had to get something for him. It just didn't work here, and I commend them for trying. And I don't commend them for much of anything.

if it was hall for a 2nd straight up we're probably not mad online right
the 4th liner swap is just so weird to take on more salary and term |

in moving lazar, you only have 3 4th liners on the roster for next year in girgens, okposo and eakin
so at least the kids should get playing time in 21-22
that's all I got |

Adams the Snail has a lot of work to do with very little time, help or experience. No reason to think success is a long shot. - washedup20
If we go with the following 2 bottom lines:
Asplund - Mittelstadt - Thompson
Bjork - Girgensons - Okposo
What that leaves the team with for the top 6 is the following:
Skinner - Eichel - Reinhart
Ruotsalainen - Cozens - Olofsson
That is not nearly good enough. |

Adams so far has been lackluster at best, and that's being kind. - kingcong39
Has not looked good, that’s for sure. If our bar is he hasn’t looked like a disaster, this franchise has no hope.
If I were teams I would be calling up every minute for Eichel, circling KA like a vulture. |

They had to do the 4th line swap or Boston would be over the cap.
After this trade the Bruins have $29,000 in cap space.

Sabres also tried to get a 3rd team to retain salary on Hall as well but it didn't work out. |

yea, im not mad about the trade. nobody could afford him, full NMC, underwhelming results, whole world knew he was being traded
in terms of important moves for the franchise going forward this one was going to be very low no matter what

great move picking up reilly for more d-help...was having a breakout season in ottawa and is a ufa...worth a look for buffalo but it'll take a premium offer to get him and the sabres aren't in the position to do so both reputation-wise and cap-wise |

Agreed
Hall and any team acquiring Hall had all the leverage.
I think we see one more move
I hope they can move Eakin.
Do that and not retain salary and I’ll call this TDL a win.

If Bjork is not on this team, he costs 800K (or a Lazar contract) against the cap. |

another thing to consider is hall was a UFA and there was such little interest in him that he signed in buffalo for one year lol
so a player that had no interest in the offseason, then puts up a flop of a season, and we are mad about a poor return
