probably right
bizarre how a player nobody wanted in the offseason who then had his career worst season resulted in a no win situation when trying to trade him - robz228
So no one wanted him but we gave him 8 mil? |

@wyshynski
Sabres GM Kevyn Adams traded Eric Staal, Taylor Hall and Brandon Montour for a second, two thirds, a fifth and Anders Bjork. - sbroads24
I would have signed montour the day after he scored 2 goals when he was on a high |

no! i cant take another 10 years of this - wingz4life
Another 10 years of what? We are in dead last right now. It hasn’t worked. Only way your gonna continue 10 years of this is keeping this core |

Agreed. Maybe he wants to come home? - Stripes77
Useable leverage in the offseason. If he's insistent on getting to UFA, you don't want to pay much for him at the TDL.

Damn that’s pretty bad - Fattony1187
So we got Staal and a 3rd and 5th and cap space for Mojo. |

It’s fine we’re fine.
They got all the picks, prospects ready to come up and make a difference.
That robust scouting staff will use those picks wisely.
An experienced head coach and GM who have proven they can build winners. |

One word- Ownership
The Pegula's hired a lame duck and gave him no support whatsoever.

weve been bashing all these players for being terrible, not even looking interested at all, and they produced like 6 wins in 30 games as our most important players and we are mad about the lack of return they got in trades?
montour is the only one that there was no reason to make that deal

i thought lazar made some great progress while in buffalo...however, he went from a fringe nhl'er to a decent fourth line/depth player who did some good things...nuthin to cry over...save for what kong pointed out in that they're paying more for a player who's a fourth-liner right now - Michael Pachla
Fair enough. Bury him, or buy it is pennies. Nothing worth the amount of internet ink that's been used on it |

What's sad is that Hall and Staal's value tanked so hard that this is what we are left with. That's the sad part. Looking at the trades for face value with what we know now, I think we did average. Staal looks as bad as he did here. Interested to see if Hall turns it around.
Also interested to see what Bjork has in him. Casey and Tallness were nothing before the season started and they finally look competent. There's a chance this kid does too.

Montour, once freed from Ralph’s system, was looking good. He’s always going to be a bit of a defensive liability but was really driving offense |

Montour is horrible defensively. If Jason Nightengale has any usefulness, he helped facilitate that trade.

Jeff Carter got more than Brandon Montour.
