nobody in professional sports sign one year deals unless they have to.

nfl players despise the franchise tag despite its guarantee to make them one of the highest paid players at their position.

it was a PTO

- robz228

Yes Jadeveon Clowney only had 1 year offers on the table last year. Come on

In fact Hall and Clowney are perfect cross sport comparables

Taylor Hall says he was "really close" to coming to Boston in the offseason

Basically it sounds like he said I will go to Boston and that's it

- Stripes77

Oh wow having a NMC decreased his value? Interesting.

That's a different stratosphere of bad. But I'm not getting out the notebook for this one.
- TheSabresTaco

Understood, but I think Broads has a point about the conditional pick. Just make it something absurdly unlikely like playoff mvp and a cup

I was very unhappy last night. I slept on it. Heard some other people's takes on it this morning.

I'm not thrilled w the return, but I've moved on.

- Powerslave

I've moved past the trade but golly am I afraid of whats to come... I don't think we've hit rock bottom just yet ladies.

Not trying to ruffle, just Fluery gives us another LD and the G is having a good year and could be a decent backup to Ullmark, and I get rid of Risto's salary next year.
- Buff36

No, I'm saying I'd like that deal. Just don't think it fits Carolina's interests.

staal wasn't free...lazar was
- Michael Pachla

Well we got Staal for Mojo and 1.2 mill in cap space, and then turned in into a 3rd and 5th, not free but not bad either.

Again, having a GM who has never even been in a front office, with not help probably makes a difference.

Again,
RAlph Kreuger.

The current GM who said he had the power to fier him, sat on it for a month while the platers continued to drown.

Im mad at them for letting it get this far.

Hall had no opportunity to turn it around. Hall had no opportunity to improve his stock.

Thats on teh GM, whom everyone seems to trust for some weird reason.

- ImThatGuy

Everyone has been playing better under Granato but Taylor Hall

Hall signed here because of Ralph...it sucks he played like crap and it sucks he was only worth a 2nd

But it is what it is

Hall also gets hurt basically year presumably while flinging himself at pucks. If KA had played Hall last week and Hall went full Girgensons and blew himself up, we'd be (frank)ed

Well they weren't free. And the picks aren't very good...... The likelihood of any of them becoming difference makers is real low.

10 years without the playoffs. Haven't won a trade since the 90's. Laughing stock of the NHL. Could be something to do with it

- DirtyDan

None of those players were difference makers for the Sabres this year.

You're probably right. He needs people and it sounds like that plan will be completed. I just don't think having an army of people would make much of an actual difference in his compensation.

You shouldn't even have to make it absurdly unlikely?

Boston wouldn't give up the 1st if they won the cup?

How about a 2022 3rd if he re-signs?

Nothing? Anything?

Taylor Hall says "one of the biggest reasons" he wanted to play in Boston was to not be the focal point. "I never made myself the focal point. Those were the situations I was in." Said he signed in Buffalo "to be one of the guys."

Nick Foles and Joe Flacco have more passing yards than Josh Allen in the playoffs.

Also have more rings.

I guess both Eichel and Josh Allen should be sent to the moon ?

Well yeah, my point was if Boston says no, you just say "name a ridiculous outcome" and settle on that to basically prevent a worst case scenario
